Sojourners Together

The Web

Yeah, we’re sojourners along this earthly journey of life. Broken and bruised and sometimes just hanging on by a thread of hope and praying our way through! Sometimes our wilderness wanderings are long and tedious with anxious thoughts, fears, panic moments disastrous happenings and just lost trust! Times when we forget to be thankful for just what we have and become critical of the provision made for us. Our manna becomes stale and mundane and we crave the meat that we remember back in the days of bondage. The days when the bad outweighed the good but yet our selfish pleasures led the way and disguised the truth from our hearts and minds. Yeah, we’re travelling, you and I and we and us, through the trenches, and over the hard places and strongholds along the way with roads that are steep and dangerously overloaded with “stuff’ along the way to distract us and take us to our defeat!
Beautiful soul, in these moments of trial, we must be strong, keeping the faith and persevering in the journey of unknowns, ready to face the battle and with the Lord’s help conquer what ever comes.

Safe
David knew those anxious moments and in Psalm 3: 1 knew of his many enemies that were against him, but he praised the Lord anyway in Psalm 3: verses 3,4,5 and 6 “But you O Lord are a shield around me. Your are the glory, the One who hold my head high. I cried out to the Lord and He answered me from His holy mountain. I lay down and slept, yet I woke up in safety, for the Lord was watching over me. I am not afraid of ten thousand enemies that surround me on every side….Vs 8, “Victory comes from you Oh Lord.”
So beautiful one, find victory in the One true God today!

Closer To the Cross

DSC00077 p
So as we move closer to the cross this week, in anticipation and celebration of that scandalous event in history where sinless, blood-shed mixed with love and mercy, met head-on with mobs of anger, hatred and ridicule, let’s be thankful!! Thankful for the cross that says it all. Let’s be thankful to our one True God, who gave His Son to be our Saviour! Who gave all that He had to save a world that He cared for with a love so pure and so unconditional that it makes us blush with guilt over our failures. Oh, that He should care so much to give so much just to secure us an eternal position with Him in glory and to grace us with abundant life while living in this wretched, sin soiled world. Yeah, in our sin, we were a part of the hatred and ridicule unleashed on Christ that day, long ago! Yet He cared enough to forgive the mobs that tortured, whipped and ridiculed and crucified that day and you know beautiful soul, He cares enough to forgive our trespasses against Him! Yeah, it’s beautiful isn’t it? That cross? That old, rugged cross, bearing the burden of guiltless death and a broken and beaten body of our sinless Saviour? Yeah, it’s beautiful for sure ~ for that cross of Christ made a way for us poor, weary wanderers to find grace in the eyes of a just God and find redemption through His shed blood.
Oh what wonder, what magnificent wonder meets us at that sad but beautiful cross, where justice and mercy meet and all are welcomed equally, in spite of…. and where the ground is level in spite of… and the forgiveness is real in spite of….and where mercy awaits in spite of….

Today the Saviour’s call is for each one of us to bend our hearts in awe before the wonder of it all and only believe. The thief did, and there in that final moment before succumbing to death, he found eternal life with his Lord. The other thief, hung still in his pride and ridicule and entered into a Christless eternity. Which side of Christ are you on today, as we move closer to the celebration of His cross? He is true, He is righteous, and He has everything to offer. Forgiveness is our biggest need and we are soooo blessed when we receive it freely.

“Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; love and faithfulness go before You. Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim You, who walk in the light of Your presence, O Lord.” Psalm 89: 14, 15

That Impossible Storm

DSC00064 What manner of man Preview
What impossibility hangs heavy over you today? Oh we all have our storms that rage and our mountains that we see way off in the distance as we try to muster courage to face them. We can live in doubt, fear or perhaps denial but sooner or later we reach them or they catch up with us and we know that now is the time that we must begin our steep accent or our walk on the water. You can do it, but not alone. If you go it alone, you set yourself up for mishap and misfortune and we’ve all been there at some point to know it’s not worth it! Yet, we forget who God really is in these crucial moments and like Peter walking on the water, we become fearful and take our eyes off of Christ! We look away from Him, into the impossibilities of the challenge that we face and so we begin to sink. As Peter was going down, he cried out to the Lord in Matthew 13:30, “Lord, save me! The Lord answered him in 31, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” Then He took his hand and caught him.

Your storm might seem impossible, but God is faithful and you can trust Him to catch you. You can trust Him to get you through. I don’t know what you face today but stay focused on Christ, climbing the mountain! Remain calm, with eyes on Him, while walking on the water!

It’s Okay Anyway

So perhaps it’s a bad day for you and It’s been a drastic day so far of everything going wrong that could and you’re left wondering if you can selvedge any of its precious moments to redeem the time and still manage to keep some kind of sanity in this ‘all gone wrong’ world of yours?

Some days are just like that aren’t they? Well, beautiful soul, you gotta know that even in the midst of all the fight and conundrum and confusion and hard stuff that’s going on, God’s got it for you, held tightly in His hand! Yeah, and He does know your frustration and your panic and the worry nipping in that apprehensive heart of yours! And those ties that wrap in tight knots that won’t undo, around that mind of yours? Yeah, He knows those too. So, that next hard thing and difficult place ~ Just float through it right into His safe keeping! Under the shelter of His wing! Safe on the rock of His protection! Secure in His shield and confident in His salvation. He is there for you even on the rainy days and the blue days, and the so ‘gone wrong’ days. He led David through a few of those with a jealous Saul in relentless pursuit.  David knew death entangled him and torrents of destruction overwhelmed him but he called on his God for help and His God delivered him and gave him a song and he gave praise back to the God who delivered, with the words of the song in Psalm 18: 1, 2, 3

“I love you O Lord my strength. The Lord is my Rock, my Fortress and my Deliverer; my God is my Rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the Horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the Lord who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies.”
