So between Good Friday and Easter Sunday it’s Saturday. A quiet day of just rest! Oh yeah, how quiet is our soul when it’s filled with great remorse and sadness over how we’ve handled the past day! How we’ve mocked, scorned, ridiculed and gone along with the crowd simply because of our humanity? But today, there’s hope lying in that grave of our guilt and remorse. All that guilt that follows all that stuff that we’ve just done to follow the crowd, to enjoy selfish pleasures, to crucify our Lord, well, a grace greater than our sin says “It’s not the end; but only the beginning.”

You see, on that third day, that heavy stone was rolled back and our Lord, rose out of that tomb leaving all that it stood for, behind, as He walked into the dawn of a brand new day. A new element of heavenly dimension! He entered into a new eternity with a new life, as he entered into a timely, pivotal point in history for the whole world. It was a world changer, a defining moment for humanity, where His victory over death was defeated, and the enemy’s best shot at defeating our Lord, was overturned, overthrown and overruled. The enemy’s best shot to defeat Christ and all He stood for, and all that He came to accomplish, lost, and what’s left, when death, the biggest thing ever that could thwart life, meets abundant life here and Eternal life forever: a victory so much greater?

What more can be said on the matter? It’s over! It’s done! It’s finished! Truth didn’t bury! Death didn’t win! The grave is empty! Our guilt is gone! Our Lord has risen! Our Saviour reigns and our salvation is made available. Our forgiveness is free for the asking and our guilt is lifted. Our debt is paid and our hope is eternal!

Wow, just wow! Talk about grace! Talk about mercy! After what we’ve just done, we are now free to go free and free to enter into that pivotal point that went down in history and see it working in our own lives as followers of this victorious Christ. We are free! It’s a life changer and friends, beautiful things are happening behind that impossible, rolled stone today. You are free to go free from your guilt and anxiety, worries, cares and fears! God has this one and His empty grave is our victory!

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”
1 Peter 1:3

“Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
John 11:25-26

Closer To the Cross

DSC00077 p
So as we move closer to the cross this week, in anticipation and celebration of that scandalous event in history where sinless, blood-shed mixed with love and mercy, met head-on with mobs of anger, hatred and ridicule, let’s be thankful!! Thankful for the cross that says it all. Let’s be thankful to our one True God, who gave His Son to be our Saviour! Who gave all that He had to save a world that He cared for with a love so pure and so unconditional that it makes us blush with guilt over our failures. Oh, that He should care so much to give so much just to secure us an eternal position with Him in glory and to grace us with abundant life while living in this wretched, sin soiled world. Yeah, in our sin, we were a part of the hatred and ridicule unleashed on Christ that day, long ago! Yet He cared enough to forgive the mobs that tortured, whipped and ridiculed and crucified that day and you know beautiful soul, He cares enough to forgive our trespasses against Him! Yeah, it’s beautiful isn’t it? That cross? That old, rugged cross, bearing the burden of guiltless death and a broken and beaten body of our sinless Saviour? Yeah, it’s beautiful for sure ~ for that cross of Christ made a way for us poor, weary wanderers to find grace in the eyes of a just God and find redemption through His shed blood.
Oh what wonder, what magnificent wonder meets us at that sad but beautiful cross, where justice and mercy meet and all are welcomed equally, in spite of…. and where the ground is level in spite of… and the forgiveness is real in spite of….and where mercy awaits in spite of….

Today the Saviour’s call is for each one of us to bend our hearts in awe before the wonder of it all and only believe. The thief did, and there in that final moment before succumbing to death, he found eternal life with his Lord. The other thief, hung still in his pride and ridicule and entered into a Christless eternity. Which side of Christ are you on today, as we move closer to the celebration of His cross? He is true, He is righteous, and He has everything to offer. Forgiveness is our biggest need and we are soooo blessed when we receive it freely.

“Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; love and faithfulness go before You. Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim You, who walk in the light of Your presence, O Lord.” Psalm 89: 14, 15

Between Good Friday And Easter Sunday

Little Thoughts For Big Days
Little Thoughts For Big Days

So Christ is in the grave but only for a day, so let go of the sadness because the outcome is out of this world. In His resurrection He brought Hope to life and into life. There’s hope now for every hurt, every pain, every sadness and all the disappointments that plague you and stalk you and haunt you and hunt you down. Those things ~ heavy on your heart can now be given over to the One who defeated the biggest enemy of all time ~ death!! Because Christ defeated death, He defeated all of the nitty, gritty other stuff too ~ and you can live free from the fear of it all, and the sting of it all, because He lives and He’s got you and if you’ve got Him you don’t need to fret and stew over the big stuff. It won’t all disappear but He’ll take the weight and heal the hurt, and mend the brokenness and carry your load over the rough spots. So between Good Friday and Easter Sunday rejoice because Hope lives in the victorious risen Lord and in your downer than down days well ~ hope lies there too.

1 Corinthians 15: 54 – 58
“So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”
“Oh Death, where is your sting?
O Hades, where is your victory?”
The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

The Cross And The Victory

I will glory In The Cross!
I will glory In The Cross!

The Cross And The Victory!!!

“He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted.” Isaiah 53:3

Despised, hated, criticized, rejected, judged, condemned, abandoned, tortured, impugned and put to agonizing death on a cross for my sin and for my infirmities. It was my sin that crushed Him. My sickness, my disease, my sorrow that weighed Him down. It was my weakness that He carried and my rebellion that He was pierced for. Greater love hath no man than this, than a man should lay down His life for His friends. John 15:13. What amazing love in His terrible death. What unspeakable joy and victory in His glorious resurrection!!! The cross could not stop Him. Death could not defeat Him and the grave could not hold Him. He reigns supreme as my Redeemer, my Restorer, my Healer and my Savior. Our God is brilliant, and even in our greatest thoughts of Him, He is greater still. His plan of salvation goes beyond any thought I can fathom. His thoughts are too high. I can not attain unto them. He guards, He guides, He leads, He protects. He watches over His creation, His people, His universe and His world in all the splendor of His omnipresence, and in all the power of His omnipotence. He’s not caught off guard, He’s never surprised. He never abandons and He never forsakes. Imagine our victorious Lord, victorious even unto death, as He sits at His Father’s right hand, in His all-powerful presence, interceding for us, for our sin, for our repentance, for our failures and for our forgiveness, for our desires and for our petitions. Is This not powerful? Friends, this is victory!! It’s our fervent prayer born out of humility, in all humbleness of heart and attitude that unleashes the blessing of God’s supernatural power to strengthen us to be lights on the hill, and salt in a desperate, faltering and dying world. Yes, prayer performs His Strength, His Power and His confidence in us and through us, in our life of service, in our world of ministry, in our struggles, our temptations, and our shortcomings. Christ is the doorway to deliverance, repentance and forgiveness and His authority prevails. He is entirely strong and He is my strength, my Rock and my Refuge. He is my provider, my councilor my confidante. I must turn in, relinquish my failures, my fears, my insecurities, my weaknesses and my hang-ups to this all Powerful,
all-knowing one, whose victory is secure. I must catch a glimpse of the cross of Christ, the empty tomb and my resurrected King of Glory and rejoice today in the God of my salvation and in His resurrection power!!!
