Standing Strong In God’s Strength


Psalm 56:4
“In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?”

Poor David was seized by the Philistines who concerned about his loyalties in I Sam 21:10-15 and brought before King Achish. His enemies were on his case. They slandered, they hounded, they twisted his words, they plotted and schemed against him and made his life quite miserable. Sound familiar?

This Psalm begins in petition asking for their evil to cease but quickly contrasts the power of mere flesh as He moves into confidence in an infinitely more powerful and immortal God. A God who knew David inside and out. A God who kept track of his sorrows and collected His tears. David knew God’s promise and He knew He was on his side.

When our enemies, who were maybe once even our friends, knock us, chase us down, slander, twist, plot, scheme and make life miserable for us lets remember, mere ‘flesh’ can not stand against our Sovereign God who asks us to wait on Him for our strength. He will protect His own against false accusations! That doesn’t mean that we take on the role of a couch potato, hiding in fear and doing nothing! Rather to be up and alert in His presence, in prayer and actively moving about, being wise and discerning! Choosing to make the right choices as He directs our steps in our workplace, home, school, church, with our peers, our family and our friends.

In times of fear or discouragement, let’s say with confidence, as David said, “In God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?” Friends, with God on our side, all power is ours to tap into to. He has us covered and His victory is ours if we allow Him to do the battle. ~k

It Pales In Comparison

Acts 20: 24.

But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned to me by the Lord Jesus—the work about telling others about the good news and the wonderful grace of God.

Paul the preacher, the evangelist, experienced a dramatic conversion that motivated him to enthusiastically preach the cross of Christ in ways that the listener could understand. His message was powerful and honest. He pulled no punches. He called it as it was, rebuking when necessary and encouraging when he could. He did not preach notions, or controversy, relevancy, or affairs of the state or government. This sincere evangelist preached faith and repentance, motivated by the powerful influence of the Holy Spirit within him and the steadfast ‘grace’ of His faithful God, whom he had come to love and trust. Paul knew that God’s grace didn’t end with forgiveness, but, on the contrary, God’s vast, extravagant grace had only just begun. He had to get the Word out at all cost. What his life ‘was’ and what it held in store, paled in comparison to the glorious transformation that he had experienced through Christ and passionately desired for others to come to know. His life paled in comparison to God’s lavish grace and his physical life paled in comparison to the glorious eternal life that lie ahead for him in death. Paul’s miraculously transformed life was all about his Lord and Savior and the people had to hear this Good News, at all cost…Yes, even if it meant imprisonment, torture and ultimate death for his faith Paul felt compelled to get the Word of Truth out, not only into the heads but more importantly into the hearts of people. Absolutely nothing held him back! What hold you back from sharing the glorious message of the life changing power of Christ in a life? Let’s be challenged to say today with Paul,

Women Of Excellence


Proverbs 31: 10, 27-28.

” A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:”.

Noble, honorable. high-minded or magnanimous. Of high-minded character implies having elevated principles and consistently adhering to them: Magnanimous suggests greatness of mind or soul, especially as manifested in generosity or in overlooking injuries: magnanimous toward former enemies. Also grand and splendid.

How beautiful in spirit is the Proverbs 31 woman of God? She is someone held in high regard and her value is of tremendous worth, far more than precious stones and worldly wealth. A superwoman? Yes, she sounds like it. She’s on call for everything and doesn’t miss a beat! This is a wife of perfection, which not one of us can attain to, to such great measure? No one can compare, but each one is given the same spiritual guidelines to strive for in our journey. To rise to the challenge of nobility as the lady of the home, married or single.

Let our words be seasoned with salt, our actions filled with kindness, our character filled with excellence, our hearts filled with forgiveness and our hands filled with busy-ness. Woman striving towards a goal of noble character, will be of humble spirit and those married will be found in submission to a husband who is known and respected within their circles of influence verse 23. Men, you are not let off easily. You have an honorable life to live before God and others. You are called to be the head of your home and live a life of excellence and obedience before God. Stand up and be that man! It’s your place to do so! Run your home with a gracious spirit of love, care and compassion, leaving your selfish desires at the foot of the cross. You are called to be the man that a woman can admire for your godly traits, wisdom and character.

When a godly man lives in such godly a way, he will be respected in the home and in the community! As he lives a life to honor the Lord, a Proverbs 31 wife will find her place of honor, blessing and praise just by being by his side in obedience to God, who has ordained marriage and desires to bless it!

Acceptance And Contentment


Philippians 4: 6-7.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Wow! what a great word of encouragement from Paul, written from behind bars, for the persecuted Christians in the church of Philippi. Do you need to hear them today for your whirlwind world that seems to spin out of control? He was all too aware of the discouragements, and difficulties that plagued them. He, himself, had been in similar conditions and was in prison because of the trials that bombarded him, in sharing the message of the Gospel. Paul didn’t speak much of his own discouragement or fear, but instead, he wrote with joy, from a heart of compassion, demonstrating that Christians can be passionate for Christ regardless of their circumstances.

These words were written by Paul to encourage the fearfully anxious to talk over everything with God. To bring each and every issue, situation and circumstance before Him in prayer, being ‘thankful’ for whatever it was that caused chaos in their life and uprooted their peace of mind. It’s tough to be thankful for bad days isn’t it? It’s very difficult to wrap our mind around thankfulness, when everything goes wrong. Those in Philippi experienced more than just bad days. They were immersed in terrible days of torture, torment, and possible death! Yet, Paul exhorts them to be ‘thankful.” Paul knew the secret! He knew that it was only in thankfulness of heart that we can accept what comes. It’s in accepting the situation, that we find contentment and it’s in contentment that we find a healing peace from God that can not be explained. It’s a deep inner, spiritual knowledge that all is well with our soul and with our life, because God is the Master engineer and come what may, through it all, all things are Father filtered and customized to our needs to aid us in spiritual growth and maturity in Christ.

What’s on your heart today. What chaotic circumstances are battering you like a ship tossed at sea? Mark 4: 39, tells us “Jesus got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.” Christ can speak peace into the eye of your storm and into the heat of your struggle, if we ask HIm. Quiet your heart and your mind before Him and Be still! Psalm 46: 10 says “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

When thankfulness to God in all things is our default, We can experience peace in all things! It’s God’s promise! Let Him rebuke the wind and waves in your life and speak His gentle, healing peace into the storm.
