A New Thing

Yeah, so some days just seem all so old and familiar, and just when you think you’ve turned a slight corner it appears it went wrong and not right. Then what? Then where do we turn when the turn at the corner didn’t turn at all in the right direction?
Isaiah 43: 19

“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”
Don’t you love it; this wonderful promise from the Lord your Holy One, Israel’s Creator and King ~ Verse 15?

“I am the Lord who opened a way through the waters, making a dry path through the sea….but forget all that ~ it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See I have already begun, do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.”

An awesome promise from the Lord our God for us right now in this moment, this day, this month, this year. I especially like the part about the “New Thing.” Don’t you? Whatever God has done in the past that rocked your world, and turned it upside down with wonder, miracles and healing, is nothing compared to what He’s about to do, can do, and will do, if we just ask with a believing heart.
So beautiful soul ~ needing something new today? I’m sure we could all use a heap of “new” and wonderful and couldn’t we handle the awesomeness of watching our Red Sea part, making a way for us to cross over into God’s promises fulfilled?

Well ~ God is faithful! As He led the Israelites through the wilderness He leads us! He’s our life source, our life preserver, our provider, our sustainer, our healer, our counselor, our Savior, and our Lord. Let’s not miss the new thing He’s about to open up to us by living in past glories, victories, or even those devastating past failures, where it’s so easy to wallow and get off course. There is more than all of that ~ and our sovereign God holds it for us. Open your mind and your heart to the “New” that He has in His divine, Mastermind! Be obedient! Be trusting! Be faithful and watch and pray!

Paintbrush of Red

Some days the pain goes way deep and the hurt is really real and really hard and the heart hurts and the head hurts and the soul cries and the tears flow and the days are just so overwhelming.

In these anxious-filled, difficult moments, we have an Author writing our lives with pen in one nail-pierced hand and a divine paintbrush of grace-filled red in the other. His blood was shed for us and yeah, He paints our story beautifully now because of it.

He’s our Saviour and He’s made a way for us to make it through this hard place! Only because of the cross, His death, and His life can we have hope and do this hard thing, defying us and staring us in the face. So whatever it is He’s written and writing and hand-painted for your story, you gotta know He’s got this and His sustaining grace covers it for us.

So beautiful you with a beautiful soul, At such a time as this, He is our Healer, our Protector, and our Provider through it all and all the way to the cross He proved it. Now, just hand those anxious thoughts, that fear, disappointment, and deep hurt over into the Saviour’s pierced hands, the one and only Author of our faith who paints our story so perfectly; so beautifully perfect for us at such a time as this! It’s ok then to just breathe and rest in His care and safekeeping and know the promise of Romans 8: 28 is Truth!

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

After The Storm ~ Then What?

So today God, just wrap your arms into one big hug for all of us down here. So many of us just need a big heaping dose of what You can give at this moment. For all the tossed, torn, tattered, broken, bruised, and battered, ruined and restless, wearied, wrecked, worn and weathered parts of us today. Yeah, for all of our vulnerable states that we find ourselves in, You alone know how we got there, from beginning to end. You alone are the keeper of our lives, our souls our journeys. You know hearts, concerns, motives, the why’s and wherefores, and in all of our confusion You understand everything!

So after the storms what then God? What then? After the ruin, the loss and the destruction of life itself and it’s surroundings? Yeah, what then? When the storm churns, and our hearts fail us and we grieve our losses. Where do we begin to make things new when we don’t even know what’s broken?

So we turn to our Maker, our Creator, our Grace Giver, our Mercy Giver, our Sustainer, our Provider, our Redeemer, our Saviour, our Care Giver our Life Preserver and our Salvation on the sea of turmoil. You alone God, are Our Deliverer in times of distress, fear, and chaos. When everything goes wrong, and under, You throw us the life jacket and say, “Peace be still” to the storm!

Oh yeah, you and I and we and us, let’s say with the Psalmist in Psalm 55:1 “Listen to my prayer, O God. Do not ignore my cry for help! Please listen and answer me, for I am overwhelmed by my troubles….Vs. 6 -8 “Oh, that I had wings like a dove; then I would fly away and rest! I would fly far away to the quiet of the wilderness. How quickly would I escape from this wild storm of hatred….ah, but then David chooses to change his focus and trust in His God and in Verse 16, he reminds himself and us when he pens “but I will call on God, and the LORD will rescue me. Morning, noon and night I cry out in my distress and the LORD hears my voice. He ransoms me and keeps me safe from the battle waged against me, though many still oppose me.

David knew all too well the battles of the storms within and without. So ok, God, right now at this moment, give us all a heaping dose of Your sustaining grace laced with mercy for the roads of our lives that we face today. Give us safety on the journeys we find ourselves taking, whatever journey it might be and just like you kept David in his fear, keep us safely tucked in Your care.
