Accepting Loss

Raising four kids over my many ‘mom’ years has taught me some interesting and valuable lessons about forgiveness. I’m still learning lots on the subject, but I’ve realized it isn’t about the other person or the offender at all. No ~ As selfish as it sounds, It’s about the “me, myself and I”, before the Lord, in the situation, and His power and His strength in us, giving us the ability, to accept the loss or the hurt, regardless of how deep it may go! You see, beautiful one, We have to get closer to God in order to forgive and accept any loss graciously. Simple ‘acceptance’ releases the chained weight of bitterness that binds and tugs around the ankle! Simple acceptance of whatever it is that’s gone down, is like a key clicked in the lock that sets us free of the offense! Yeah, simple, straight forward acceptance! It’s the only way! Only in acceptance of the loss, can I ever ‘begin’ to heal in the whole healing process. Let me tell you ~ It won’t be instant, it never is, but just as time heals a surgery, a wound, or a broken bone; the broken heart, the pain of offense and the hurt of loss also heals with time, if we’ve accepted the loss before our Lord who lost His life at the hands of the angry mob. What did He do? He prayed, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” They weren’t asking but He accepted His brutal treatment and ultimate loss of life on the cross and all for us, who are so undeserving! So must we ask God to forgive them and “accept” our lot and our loss. You see, when we accept the loss, it can’t get any worse so, what does it matter? It’s done! it’s over! It’s happened and we can’t change it! So we accept it and we learn from it! We forgive and we are forgiven over and over and over again in this life and each time we must move on, hopefully a little smarter and a little wiser in our journey!

Think of it this way! Have you ever forgiven your kids, even when they haven’t asked? When they’re young, we do don’t we? And in their child-like simplicity they forgive us when we fail them in their little worlds, so big to their concerns. It’s all in a days work and just a valuable part of training in kids-world and parenting. However, as they get older with their own minds and rebellious behaviors, it becomes a little more “adult like” difficult and chances are they’re not asking because they don’t care. So, rather than harbor it, holding it against them for the rest of their life, ~ we have to accept what they’ve done, forgive and let it go, or we’ll be the losers really. Yeah, sadly maybe ten times a day or more and always with the knowledge of another day tomorrow with most likely more of the same scenario. Remember the offender seldom asks nor do they have the ability nor power to heal and if we depend on the offender for our healing we may take the bitterness to our grave.

Matthew 18: 21, 22
“Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times? “Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.”

So it’s Fall, and let it begin. There’s a whole lot of summer behind us and a lot of stuff left back there, some of it wonderful memories left in the dust of a fast – paced and busy, hectic life style and yeah, some of it not so great and that’s for sure.
For now a new season lies ahead! A time of harvest and yielding fruits. A new time of rejuvenation and preparation before the long winter sets in. Ahh, yes, beautiful soul! How is it! Beautiful just the way you like it? Or a little on the down slump? How’s your heart? How’s your mind? Weary, tired, restless, and longing for something deeper, something more meaningful, other that the same old, same old, that’s sure to creep in and join up with you in this new season in life?
Sometimes it’s difficult to step away from what’s behind and leave it where it should be left. Those worries, anxieties, those hard places that knocked and those insensitive people that pulled you in and dragged you down into their misery! After all, some things just need to be carried forward and dealt with don’t they? Or do they? Maybe some things surely can be left behind! If they can, then indeed, leave them and walk away.

The beauty of fall awaits to be seen with new insight, through the clear eyes of the soul, a clean heart and a forgiving spirit. So time out today for a Fall cleaning! Take out the garbage and leave it at the roadside for pick-up! Walk on free in Christ and prepare for harvest in your life and in your ministry. The Psalmist says and reminds us in the very first chapter of the book of Psalms how blessed we are as followers of Christ, when he says in verse 1, “Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by the streams of water which yields fruit in it’s season and whose leaf does not wither….” Yeah, we must prepare our hearts for harvest and maybe do a deep cleaning but it’s well worth it to be like the well-watered tree planted by the stream ‘cuz our leaves won’t wither in the seasons of life. Yeah, beautiful you ~ We are blessed and beautiful souls if we delight in the laws of God and meditate on Him day and night and through all seasons of life.

Forgiven And Free

John 3:17
“For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”

The truth that God loved the world is basic to Christian understanding, and the basis for our salvation (1John 4: 9,10). Most of us have some kind of an idea of a God of love, somewhere out there, yet we choose to ignore the thought. It’s time to face it, acknowledge it and see it for what it really is. It’s unconditional and the vastness of His love has no limit, no boundary and no prerequisite. We can’t earn it, buy it or work for it. It extends beyond all race and nation and yes, even to those who oppose Him. Take a closer look.. Contrary to what unbelievers think, God’s Son came to save those who embrace the darkness, not “condemn” them to judgment. When we live in spiritual darkness we have no desire to come into the enlightenment of Christ but if we see His light of Truth and truly recognize the tragedy of our own situation, we do have a responsibility to believe. Glorious reality check here! Think about it and bask in the hope of it! There will be no judgment for the one who comes into the light of the knowledge of Christ and accepts God’s plan of salvation for his/her life. When you meet Him at the Cross, you are freed from the condemnation and the bondage of your sin and the chains that bind you.

John 8:36, “If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.” Have you been delivered from your sin? If not? Why not? Deliverance and forgiveness brings deliverance from the penalty and the condemnation and judgment of sin. Christ didn’t come to condemn you but to save you! If you’ve received His salvation, then, my friend, you are free indeed.
Oh the sweetness of it…….

After The Wings

Little Thoughts For Big Days
Little Thoughts For Big Days
Little Thoughts For Big Days
Little Thoughts For Big Days

I’ve been raising Monarchs this season and finding it a delightful past time. This is the first one to emerge from it’s snug chrysalis where it made it’s amazing transformation from Caterpillar to wings. It’s been a beautiful journey so far with these amazing creations that God has given to grace our world.

Free At Last
Free At Last

So a few hours later our first hatchling from the chrysalis was taken outside to dry in the soft breeze. The breeze caught his wings and he took off in a first, unsteady flight and flew right into a spider web. How disappointing and distressing to watch it go down but at the same time, it was a wonderful feeling to come to his rescue. So, carefully loosening him free from the web and brushing off the sticky silk from his feet and face, we ventured over to the butterfly bush where he hid under a few leaves and spent many more hours on sweet, nectar flowers! Later in the day, it was a delight to see him in brilliant, beautiful flight and freedom. No more crawling on the milkweed, but now soaring in the wind with beautiful grace!

What a spectacular journey and transformation from caterpillar to butterfly and yet his unsteady wings of freedom, weren’t even enough. They quickly ushered him into trouble and landed him smack dab in the middle of a dreadful and invisible web of deception. He wasn’t strong enough yet to fight it on his own and without human rescue, he wouldn’t have made it. He would have had to succumb to the entrapment of the deadly web and all just after gaining a new freedom. It makes me wonder how anything survives on it’s own in the wild! It’s also a good reminder of how we need a Saviour to rescue us from the dreadful web of sin. Our unsteady wings of freedom lead us quickly into invisible webs of trouble to quickly entangle us and without a Sovereign God, who is rich in mercy and grace coming to our aid to free us with His awesome and amazing plan of salvation, we too, are entrapped before we ever begin our life journey! We sit wrapped in the sticky pleasures of our selfish desires without any hope of escape! Praise God, He made a way for us to be set free through Christ who came to our rescue! Through the cross, the shed blood and His divine, glorious resurrection and transformation, we too, can be set free in beautiful flight when we seek Him and ask his forgiveness.

Isaiah 53:6
We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
