In This Together

Together You and I
Together You and I

So we’re in this together you and I; fellow sojourners in a temporary land, making our way through one crazy, mixed up world to ultimately reach our final destination. Oh yeah, Heaven is so very real and so very close to our hearts but sometimes it seems so distant and so far removed from where we are today ~ right now, this moment when the way is long and daunting! There’s still so much journey ahead, and we wonder through our wanderings of wilderness where its taking us? It’s a different way for us all, and we find ourselves so often in the difficult places on difficult days. The roads are many: long, short, steep, winding and dangerous with each one presenting its own level of challenge. Sometimes the light is dim the way is dark. Sometimes the eyesight wanes, health fails and strength is zapped. Decisions are overwhelming, and choices are hard, but we’re in this together aren’t we? Your way and my way? Our ways our dotted with enemies who lie in wait to ambush ~ taking us down, defeating our cause and distracting us from our heavenly goal. We want to run rather than face! We want to cry because it hurts! We want to just give in because it’s too hard to go on.

But oh we do have the good days too! Those days when we just know that we walk the way with Jesus as our steady guide, and our sovereign Lord who leads the way and just as God faithfully led the Israelites through their wanderings He leads us through ours. He’s given us the best director for the drama and the best tour guide for the journey, all packaged together beautifully in the Saviour of the world. The only one who can meet our biggest need and save us from the perils of sin and it’s ruin. Oh I trust you walk with Him today on your journey. Walk with Him as David and so many other great men and women of the faith did. So when it’s rough, and smack dab in the middle of difficult, reach out to Jesus and say with David as he prayed in
Psalm 86: 1, “Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer; answer me for I need your help. Protect me, for I am devoted to You. Save me for I serve You and trust You. You are my God.”

Hope for The Road

Always Hope
Always Hope

So it’s not always easy is it? Things come out of no where when we least expect it. Things that sideswipe and knock us off track momentarily or maybe longer ~ just because they do and we feel weak and helpless ~ and smack-dab in the middle of it all. Where to turn and what to do when rough patches in the road trip us up so very quickly and make us lose our focus on what’s true and right and good? Our get up and go gets up and leaves and leaves us shaking, unmotivated and weary worn. Worry becomes our second name as it volunteers to take its dangerous position in the playing field. Panic and fear just follow along and then what? We have a bad game going on and we find ourselves in need of a supernatural power source that can empower us and pick us up from the depths of where we are and pull to the heavenly heights of where He is! We are needy people needing a double dose of God’s grace and favour and ah yes, His compassion and mercy~ all victorious in winning the battle. His mercies are new every morning and even on the rough days, Jesus gives mercy and hope for the road! Put a dash of both in your “coffee to go” this morning! His grace is amazing, His love unfailing and His guidance is true and right and good. He will never leave you ‘nor forsake you. Trust Him for that! Trust Him now, and where worry plays out give it over into His capable hands. Where panic surfaces in the chaotic and frightening, know God’s protective hands are all over it to make it better and to bring you closer to His heart! Beautiful and weary soul, He’s got this! ~ let Him work! ~k

Hope In The Journey
Hope In The Journey

John 16:33
“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

Zephaniah 3:17
“The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”

Psalm 50:15
“Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”

That Small Voice At The End Of The Day

Just Be Faithful
Just Be Faithful

Sure it’s a brand new year but it’s a brand new year on the tale end of the old one and so much weariness is there, just after the busy Christmas season, and yet, it’s still time to get moving and get going once more.

Weary soul, do not give up just because you don’t see evidence of fruit. Don’t throw your strong faith to the wind in your perplexed and tired spirit of life. Do not lose heart for the good of all things or for the good of your ministry. Your reward is great and is to come from our God, the giver of life, in His time, but , your now reward is that still, small voice at the end of the day that whispers into your weary heart “You were faithful, in the small things! Well done thou good and faithful servant!” Ah, yes, and we dare not ponder the failures or the successes of the day but just be obedient to God’s leading. Rely on Him! Hope in Him! Find courage in Him and rise up with new strength for the weary days! ~k

“Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.”
Galatians 6:9, 10

“Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Isaiah 40:31

New Year’s Resolution

New Year's Resolution
New Year’s Resolution

So here we sit with maybe some disappointments about the whole last year and maybe you thought you left the old baggage at the 20.15 terminal but it beat you to the 20.16 gate didn’t it? It arrived before you did and so here you sit on the brink of the first day of a new year and it’s the same old, same old. Wouldn’t you just know it? That’s because bad news travels fast, bondage doesn’t break easily and old habits die-hard.

Some things just didn’t go as planned and some things were left undone and some prayers weren’t answered and some things we just wish were different somehow. But they’re not, so ~ what do you do with that? Hey, you! There are things that we just can’t undo and some things that just can’t be made different by us. Those things we have to accept and place into God’s hand for good keeping. Habits? We can make our new resolutions and begin with every good intention to change, but the old stuff creeps back in as “Self” creeps off the altar of sacrifice. The loose end stuff creeps in to leave us reeling in guilt or fear or insecurity and disappointment and so perplexity reigns instead of peace and what do we do with that?
David knew all too well the evil about him, and invokes God’ s help while praising His character. He knew how to pray to our God of mercy and compassion. “Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer; answer me, for I need your help. Protect me, for I am devoted to You. Save me, for I serve You and trust You. Be merciful to me O Lord…..O Lord, You are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for Your help.” Psalm 86: 1,2,3a,5

So, beautiful soul, ask for God’s help as David did. Pray to our faithful God who understands all the chaos of your heart and knows about that baggage that haunts you even into the New Year. Pray David’s prayer or pray a personal prayer on this brand new day of a brand new year. Open the windows wide on 2016 and without a speck of fear or disappointment or frustration breathe in the fresh air and newness of life.

A new resolution? Yeah, for sure! Go ahead and let go of the past and step into peace with God.

I can choose to dwell on my insecurities, my weaknesses, my hurts, disappointments, my frustrations and the failures of my past, allowing the enemy to crush me under the weight of their load, or I can lay them at the foot of the cross with a broken spirit, stand back and watch God make beauty out of ashes as He weaves His golden threads in, around, over and through the confusion of my broken dreams. God doesn’t want my perfection, He only desires a humble, repentant and willing heart. His desire is to pour His unconditional love and grace upon me to bless me, and give me peace, but He won’t control me. He gives me the freedom to choose “His life” over the enemy’s death. The choice is up to me. ~k

Begin again and watch God do something new!

“Do not call to mind the former things, Or ponder things of the past. “Behold, I will do something new, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.”
Isaiah 14: 18 – 19
