The Worry ~ Fear Spin

So, there’s a whole lot of world spinning around you and a whole lot of noise and the good ole’ days have jollied along South and left you to fend for yourself in that heap of spinning debris whirling in your mind. Yeah, the good ole’ days ~ the days when life just seemed a whole lot simpler and much more enjoyable. It was smooth sailing then wasn’t it and life was carefree? Today it seems that fears lurk in the corners and nip at your heels. The kids grow up and want their space! They show their colors as personalities take shape. They demand, they want, they fuss and tantrum and parenting is hard! The money wanes! Pressures mount! The work-a-day world is a joke and worry is gut – wrenching and real and cruel and taunts and teases and distracts and if we give it a place it destroys us from the inside out. It sideswipes! Runs us off- track and if we’re not careful, ~ “Out of the race.”

There’s a bunch of us that know it and know it well and know it’s grip and know how it grabs us and snatches us into it’s vices, tossing us about in the wind, yet it’s relentless to free us and let us go.

Oh yeah, have you been there, or are you right now, right there? Right smack dab in the middle of the worry spin? Beautiful you, when it’s caught you in it’s grip, look to the LORD for help and say with confidence the song of the Psalmist in Psalm 121: 1-2:

“I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.”

Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

Psalm 56:3
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”

Worry and trust do not live together in the same mind or the same heart, so beautiful soul, it’s one or the other. Why not snatch the trust, Grab it! hang on to it! Stand firm on it and believe God’s promises are true. Refuse the enemy’s take charge ability to break through your defense line ~ your beautiful mind! Your beautiful soul.
God’s got this! Let Him have all of it!

Say today with the Psalmist in Psalm 119:57, “Lord you are mine! I promise to obey Your words! With all my heart I want your blessings. Be merciful as You promised. I ponder the direction of my life, and I turned to follow Your laws. I will hurry without delay to obey your commands.”

Stand Still And Praise

Sometimes there’s a whole lot of fight, a whole lot of words, a whole lot of talk, a whole lot of rumors, a whole lot of right and whole lot of wrong. Half truth, whole truth and nothing but the truth. It’s difficult isn’t it to decipher truth from fiction and order from chaos? Beautiful soul, are you there today? In the middle of the thicket, the fog and the fight? Take courage from the book of 2 Chronicles, penned to give purpose and hope to a people whose future appeared uncertain. Does your future teeter on the abyss of fear and turmoil? Hear the words of King Jehoshaphat as he relayed God’s words to the people of Judah and Jerusalem. They were threatened and faced a terrible battle, that on their own was a pretty bleak situation. A no win, if you please! Yeah, it was just plain, downright, bad news any which way you looked at it? It was pretty much cut and dried! There was not a hope in the trenches for any kind of victory. Ahh, but God was there and His words were given to the King to speak over the people. Hear them if you will!

“You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.” Do we get that today? Can we hide those powerful words in our hearts and tuck them away into our minds and stand firm in our positions? The KJV says, “Stand still”, and I like both. Don’t you? Stand Still, Stand firm! Take your positions and watch the Lord deliver! It doesn’t say to talk, or speak out of frantic negotiations, but just to simply stand still. As a matter of fact if we read on we can see how they fought with Praise to their God, by singing. It confused the enemies and they lost their focus. How amazing is that and how awesome is God’s promise for us, when there’s a whole lot of fight and not a whole lot of sense going down about anything in your corner?

‘This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it.” Isaiah 30:15 Earlier in the book of Isaiah, The people of Judah were in desperate need of repentance and returning to the Lord, and in quietness and trust in their Lord, they would find strength. But they refused His offer. Do we? His offer still stands for us and is there today, this moment for us to accept. Repentance and Rest is the only thing that will win. Quietness and trust is our strength. We can take that promise from God to the bank and count on it. Either He is God or He isn’t? So how’s it going for you today?

Stand still, take your positions and in quiet confidence and trust in an awesome God, find all the strength you need for that weary soul and that tired mind!

Beautifully Imperfect

dsc_0001-jpg-bokeh-graceful-rosewood
So here we sit, tired and worn in our imperfect state, in our imperfect world. So imperfect, as a matter of fact that we feel very flawed and sometimes very useless. We drag around with our headaches, our stomach issues, our muscles aches and pains, our diseases, our anxieties, our worries and our cares and yeah, our energy levels reach an all time low as we try to move past the moment of ‘whatever this is’ into some sort of hope for the next hour. Beautiful soul, we are imperfect in this life but you and I and we and us, we are created to be all that our Creator has for us to be. There is hope and help for our horrendous, sin-sick state. Our Saviour is the solution and our healing and our challenge is to rise to that level of His healing perfection regardless of the distractions that nip at our heels and weigh heavy on our shoulders. Giving up isn’t an option. So we can’t go there! Our hope is in Him for He is our victory! He has already run and won in this race of spiritual battle and perseverance! If we are His and in His care and safe keeping, we have won too! You can know it! We maybe haven’t reached the finish line yet, but we’re closer today than we were yesterday. That beautiful one is reason to keep running the race, undaunted by the struggles and and pot holes along the way. Our world is imperfect and our bodies are groaning for some kind of perfect as we plod along but our finish line is just ahead. Just around the next bend. Maybe a day, maybe two, maybe a year maybe ten, but we can know that we don’t run perfect but yet we don’t run alone!

We’re all in this together and as Solomon penned in his wisdom literature of Ecclesiastes in 9:11 “I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.” So beautiful soul, pick up those weary, tired bones and get on with it. The race is on and yeah the hardships are many but the victory is ours in Jesus. Run on then! Run through the thickets, the trenches, the mud and the mire for your Saviour runs along beside, over, around, behind and through, and that my dear friends is called winning, even in an imperfect body and in an imperfect world.

We don’t have to be the the fastest or the swiftest, or the wisest, or the smartest or most educated, we just have to be in tune with our brilliant Creator and watch as He sees to it, that we are placed in the right place at the right time, for His blessing and for such a time as this.
