Put On Your Armour

Ephesians 6: 10 – 13.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For we are not fighting against flesh and blood enemies but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand and after the battle you will still be standing firm.”.

If only we could realize, grasp and come to a full understanding that while in the heat of our battles our struggles with one another are not really with one another at all, but with the enemy himself in the unseen dimension of spiritual forces. In the middle of discouragements, anxieties, power struggles, deceptions, and all of our horrendous battles, it’s the old enemy, deceiver who has gained a foothold and is doing all in his power to bind us in our strongholds of selfishness, pride, resentment, bitterness, anger, strife and unforgiveness. He knows how to render us ineffective and will target us in our weakest moment and at our weakest point. We must be on guard, alert to his strategies, ready to take our stand and stand our ground against him. It’s so important to daily wrap ourselves in the full armour of God. To stand on God’s righteous Truth, grounded with peace, clothed and protected with the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and God’s all powerful Word; the sword of the Spirit. Notice, there is nothing for our back. A good indication that we are not to run from the problem, by protecting ourselves with lies or calling judgment upon others. Retaliation is the devil’s right hand man and what he uses to take us deeper into the pit of ruin! Rather than retaliation, we are called to simply stand firm in God’s confidence, trust Him, make the right choices, do the right things, and watch Him deliver us into victory.

“Christ out-witted the strategy of the Prince of the power of the air, milked the serpent of his venom, out-thought the thinkers, out-fought the fighters, outclassed the mighty and asserted His universal Lordship. Jesus Christ is Lord; Sovereign and omnipotent. Ruler and King of Kings.” I love it but I don’t know the writer.

Let’s raise the banner of God’s sovereign majesty and fly His victorious flag, high for all to see…His victory is our victory! Let’s claim it for our lives for it’s through His victory that our marriages become stronger, our homes become happier, our families become more stable, our children more secure, our churches more spiritually alive and personal lives more solidly grounded, more mature in the faith. Put on that full armor before you face your day, remember His faithfulness and His promises and step out under God’s banner of victory!

Psalm 91: 1, 2, 4a.
“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High, will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. He alone is my refuge, my place of safety. His faithful promises are your armor of protection..”

Beautifully Imperfect

So here we sit, tired and worn in our imperfect state, in our imperfect world. So imperfect, as a matter of fact that we feel very flawed and sometimes very useless. We drag around with our headaches, our stomach issues, our muscles aches and pains, our diseases, our anxieties, our worries and our cares and yeah, our energy levels reach an all time low as we try to move past the moment of ‘whatever this is’ into some sort of hope for the next hour. Beautiful soul, we are imperfect in this life but you and I and we and us, we are created to be all that our Creator has for us to be. There is hope and help for our horrendous, sin-sick state. Our Saviour is the solution and our healing and our challenge is to rise to that level of His healing perfection regardless of the distractions that nip at our heels and weigh heavy on our shoulders. Giving up isn’t an option. So we can’t go there! Our hope is in Him for He is our victory! He has already run and won in this race of spiritual battle and perseverance! If we are His and in His care and safe keeping, we have won too! You can know it! We maybe haven’t reached the finish line yet, but we’re closer today than we were yesterday. That beautiful one is reason to keep running the race, undaunted by the struggles and and pot holes along the way. Our world is imperfect and our bodies are groaning for some kind of perfect as we plod along but our finish line is just ahead. Just around the next bend. Maybe a day, maybe two, maybe a year maybe ten, but we can know that we don’t run perfect but yet we don’t run alone!

We’re all in this together and as Solomon penned in his wisdom literature of Ecclesiastes in 9:11 “I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.” So beautiful soul, pick up those weary, tired bones and get on with it. The race is on and yeah the hardships are many but the victory is ours in Jesus. Run on then! Run through the thickets, the trenches, the mud and the mire for your Saviour runs along beside, over, around, behind and through, and that my dear friends is called winning, even in an imperfect body and in an imperfect world.

We don’t have to be the the fastest or the swiftest, or the wisest, or the smartest or most educated, we just have to be in tune with our brilliant Creator and watch as He sees to it, that we are placed in the right place at the right time, for His blessing and for such a time as this.
