Your Passion

Little Thoughts For Big Days
Little Thoughts For Big Days

So you there, beautiful soul, sitting right there this morning ~ what makes your heart tick today? I mean, besides the sovereign God who brilliantly breathed life into you and created you to be just you and just as you are? What motivates you and drives you and what is that passion in your soul that ignites and blazes a way through the thick of things just to be there? Enjoy it all, but take care and beautiful one, if you don’t see our sovereign God in it, it can quickly become as a golden god! One that selfish pleasure carves out of good things and wonderful things to become a default, maybe an obsession or an over the top ‘go-to’ to hide behind. Let’s remember in our moments of passion to step back and down a notch or two! Yeah, just take a deep breath and remember to include God in all of it ~ in your plans, your schedules, and what you say “Yes” to. Ask Him to direct your steps through the thickest of your passions, your desires, your life, your work, your worry, your marriage, your kids, your ministries, your hobbies, and whatever it is that has your mind and your heart wrapped around it’s little finger. God desires for His children to enjoy laughter and fun. He really does ~ and Proverbs 17: 22 confirms for us that “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.” Oh yes, we want a merry heart and hearts that laugh and enjoy the gift of life that God has given us but so many of us experience the dried up broken spirits rather than the joy. We need the “Happy” but not at the expense of missing the joy of knowing the God who gives the life, the talents, the gifts, the kids, the job, and the ministries. Not at the expense of missing out on the abundant life that we can have in Christ, while here on this earth and the awesomeness of sharing eternity with our Saviour and our King. He’s given us the breath, the life, the journey, the passion, the hobby, now include Him in the walk, the talk, the thoughts and the actions. God is our soul purpose for living, so find Him right there where you are! Include Him and walk with Him and be the pure, beautiful soul that He’s made you to be. Forgiven and Free in Christ, joyful in spirit, saturated in His amazing grace, and blessed abundantly to do His work and enjoy His gifts. He’s got it all for you and He’s got you. Let His light guide and His divine power blaze the way through the thick of it all and walk you through!

Exodus 15:11
Who among the gods is like you, LORD? Who is like you– majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

A New Thing

A new thing? How about emerging with wings?
A new thing? How about emerging with wings?

“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43: 19

Don’t you love it; this wonderful promise from the Lord your Holy One, Israel’s Creator and King ~ Verse 15? “I am the Lord who opened a way through the waters, making a dry path through the sea….but forget all that ~ it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See I have already begun, do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.”
An awesome promise from the Lord our God for us right now in this moment, this day, this month, this year. I especially like the part about the “New thing.” Don’t you? Whatever God has done in the past that rocked your world and turned it upside down with wonder and miracles and healing, is nothing compared to what He’s about to do, can do, and will do, if we just ask with a believing heart.

So beautiful soul ~ needing something new today? I’m sure we could all use a heap of “new” and wonderful and couldn’t we handle the awesomeness of watching our Red Sea part, making a way for us to cross over into God’s promises fulfilled? Well ~ God is faithful! As He led the Israelites through the wilderness He leads us! He’s our life source, our life preserver, our provider, our sustainer, our healer, our counsellor, our Savior and our Lord. Let’s not miss the new thing He’s about to open up to us by living in past glories, victories or even those devastating past failures where it so easy to wallow and get off course. There is more than all of that ~ and our sovereign God holds it for us. Open your mind and your heart to the “New” that He has in His divine, Mastermind! Be obedient! Be trusting! Be faithful! Be hopeful and watch and pray!

After The Wings

I’ve been raising Monarchs this season and finding it a delightful past time. This is the first one to emerge from it’s snug chrysalis where it made it’s amazing transformation from Caterpillar to wings. It’s been a beautiful journey so far with these amazing creations that God has given to grace our world.

Free At Last
Free At Last

So a few hours later our first hatchling from the chrysalis was taken outside to dry in the soft breeze. The breeze caught his wings and he took off in a first, unsteady flight and flew right into a spider web. How disappointing and distressing to watch it go down but at the same time, it was a wonderful feeling to come to his rescue. So, carefully loosening him free from the web and brushing off the sticky silk from his feet and face, we ventured over to the butterfly bush where he hid under a few leaves and spent many more hours on sweet, nectar flowers! Later in the day, it was a delight to see him in brilliant, beautiful flight and freedom. No more crawling on the milkweed, but now soaring in the wind with beautiful grace!

What a spectacular journey and transformation from caterpillar to butterfly and yet his unsteady wings of freedom, weren’t even enough. They quickly ushered him into trouble and landed him smack dab in the middle of a dreadful and invisible web of deception. He wasn’t strong enough yet to fight it on his own and without human rescue, he wouldn’t have made it. He would have had to succumb to the entrapment of the deadly web and all just after gaining a new freedom. It makes me wonder how anything survives on it’s own in the wild! It’s also a good reminder of how we need a Saviour to rescue us from the dreadful web of sin. Our unsteady wings of freedom lead us quickly into invisible webs of trouble to quickly entangle us and without a Sovereign God, who is rich in mercy and grace coming to our aid to free us with His awesome and amazing plan of salvation, we too, are entrapped before we ever begin our life journey! We sit wrapped in the sticky pleasures of our selfish desires without any hope of escape! Praise God, He made a way for us to be set free through Christ who came to our rescue! Through the cross, the shed blood and His divine, glorious resurrection and transformation, we too, can be set free in beautiful flight when we seek Him and ask his forgiveness.

Isaiah 53:6
We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

A Whisper

So let the worries go today. You know God has them but He won’t help you out from under the load of them until you give them over. When our mind is on overload and weighted down with heaps of stuff and a lot of it being only a part of our wildest imaginations, the enemy has you right where he wants you; Weakened and zapped of energy and strength. Defeated and down! You won’t function at peak levels, so beautiful soul, you gotta give it all you’ve got and one more time, aggressively hand it all over to God for keeps this time. Dole ’em out, and hand ’em over! All the struggles, the torment, the pressures, the problem relationships, the impossible employment situations, the sleepless nights, the financial crisis, the kid issue, the health report, that nagging worry that could very well be just a figment of your own imagination, your pet peeves, your jealousy and all that nonsense that just slowly eats away at your peace of mind stealing your joy and robbing you of hope.

So ~ let it go and you, yourself, float right into those ever merciful and loving arms of our Lord, who desires to see you at rest in Him. The One who desires to grace you and love you with His vast and deeper than deep love! You know it,  so act on it and in obedience trust Him for all of it.  Worried, anxious, nervous, on edge? Ask His direction and listen to the still small voice that He speaks from the incidentals and quiet moments that come about within your day.  It will boggle your mind, how He leads in His quiet, “Still small voice” way and at the end of the day when you put your feet up and find peace in your busy soul, you will say “That was God!” and if you listen, you will hear Him say,

“Yes it was! Trust me for tomorrow too!”

“And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.” 1 Kings 19:12

“It stopped, but I could not tell what it was. A form stood before my eyes, and I heard a hushed voice.” Job 4:6

“So he said to me, ‘This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel, ‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the LORD Almighty.” Zechariah 4:6
