What If’s And What Now’s?

So there’s maybe a whole lot of us coming up against a week of what if’s! What if that medical test result isn’t good? What if the finances just aren’t there? What if the kids get this dreadful flu? What if work is just bad news? What if I get that sore throat with this big weekend coming up? What if? What if? What if? and what if? Oh my, so many fears, so much to wrap the head around. So much to plan for! So many hats to wear and so many that don’t even fit any more. What are we suppose to do when life comes at us from all angles with a driving force and gusty winds that knock us flying face first into a deadlock? Opposition with no progress. Yeah, what do we do with that? What do we do with that stuff that comes a calling, to call us out of our peace corner and out of our comfort zone; to set us on edge ready to crack or explode or break into a kazillion pieces? How do we manage it when the “What if’s?” become the “What Nows?”

Well, our Psalmist in Psalm 73, Verses 24 – 25, 26, 28a, speaks out to His God and confirms God’s guidance for the godly through their troubles and changes their misery into glory when he pens the words, “You guide me with Your counsel leading me to a glorious destiny. Whom have I in heaven but You? I desire You more than anything on earth. My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; He is mine forever…..I have made the Sovereign Lord my shelter.”

So hey you beautiful one with the beautiful soul and all the what if’s, what for’s, and what now’s; yeah you, all wrapped up in those fears; God’s got this. He’s got all of it. Some things may not be as we wish, but He’s got that too. He knows what’s up and what’s happening. He knows the prodigal. He knows the estranged family members. He knows the kid problems. The thing is, He knows you inside out and right side up in every direction and at every turn. He’s never taken off guard and though our health may take a slide downward and our spirits may grow weak at the thought of it all, He is still our perfect shelter and He is still now and always ours forever! That’s our sweet promise from Him to us and you can take to the bank of life.

Our Psalmist knew it even in his weakness and confirmed it to His God in written word for us today, right now, for such a time as this.

So ~ All that stuff? Cast it out and away!

1 Peter 5:7
“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
