So some days when our perspective is clouded, our insight dimmed with disappointment, our focus out-of-focus and what we thought was our high calling appears to have done the Humpty-Dumpty to below zero, the thing is, it’s not the deeds or the successes that matter in God’s economy but it’s our sincere faithfulness in the small things that take the front seat! So when selling lemonade in the kiosk doesn’t trump the chocolate cake in the finest of dining, it’s all ok, because it’s truly in our ‘faithfulness’ to His work, not our performance that our God is faithful to us. Yeah, He’s the winner in our losses and the joy in our disappointments. He’s the strength in our weakness and the heights of our success in our lowest of lows. It’s not about us! It’s never about us and I love how He brings us back in touch with reality when we get hit with a bit of cloudy perspective!
The amazing thing is too, there’s blessing there in that ‘clouded’ perspective! It really does have a silver lining after all and in the big picture of God’s economy you can know that with all that you have to know! Our disappointments are truly “His” appointments for such a time as this. So when the platform does a bit of a downslide on the downlow and our egos develop a flat, it’s always all ok! The flat is right where God wants to bless us in order to propel us on to greater things.
Oh I love how He looks after us and all the little things of our lives. I love how He takes care of every little thing that pertains to us, yeah, even enough to use disappointments in order to carry out the best for us in this journey! That’s what He does! I love how He does it! Don’t you?
The poet of Lamentations in 3: 22 -23, knew the faithful love of our Lord. It was His basis for recovering from deep depression after the ruin of Jerusalem in a catastrophe that wiped out the Kingdom of Juda; it’s capital, it’s temple and it’s people. Such a dreadful wipe-out it was but our poet knew that God is absolutely reliable and so can we if we back up a step or two and take a look at the evidence in daily mercies seen every day. Yeah, He is faithful even to end of our big day, our hard times, and our difficult decisions. And in those down slopes and wipe outs and in those deep depressions He is faithful! Always faithful! You can know it!
