Joy Unspeakable

So hey you there, with heavy heart and hard circumstances beating down your door, there is blessing there, because the joy of the Lord alone, is our strength and in His presence alone, is joy beyond our comprehension. I know it sounds so cliche doesn’t it, to say there’s blessing tucked away in the hard places? But the Apostle Peter knew that blessing, like ‘treasures’, lay hidden in trials as he wrote to encourage the persecuted Christians in his day! Still today, beautiful one, his words echo through to us, right here, right now, in this season of celebration of our Lord’s birth, piercing through our dark days, hard times, isolation, loneliness and rejection. This season of holly, jolly? It’s not about comfort, good things, and happiness, and although the world places high emphasis on such things, It’s not about that! It’s about a sense of deep, inner peace in our Saviour’s presence and a trust and contentment in all things that He works in our waiting. It’s focusing on His presence in us that brings a sense of trust to our hearts and minds to erase the depth of the struggle, the intense fear, and the painful aloneness and replace it with a joy unspeakable. ❤

1 Peter 1:7-9 So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead even though you have to endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold-though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials it will bring you much praise and glory and honour on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world….though you do not see Him now you trust Him and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. The reward for trusting Him will be the salvation of your soul.”

Joy For The Road

Little Thoughts For Big Days
Little Thoughts For Big Days

So we need joy today don’t we? Right smack dab in the middle of the hard places and the difficult roads. Yeah, right where it’s so difficult to find it sometimes. Where does it go when the troubles hit home and the friends fail, and the lonely road just gets longer, and family members don’t comply and finances wane, and health fails, and fame dies, and popularity takes a nose dive and your project gets rebuked and rejected and on and on and on it goes? Beautiful soul, What’s taken your joy today? If something truly has robbed us of joy, then we find it in all the wrong places. Well, dear ones, we’re instructed to look for it in the hard places and in James 1: 2-3, James reminds us of that when he writes, “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.” Yeah, those trials produce back bone and maturity in our walk. They help to grow us up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord! They take us to new heights, to new levels, to higher levels, to strengthening levels, to levels that defy the enemy and put him in his place ~ under the foot of our Saviour. Pure joy awaits here in the difficult, and even in the midst of them! Oh, the hard places can rob us of our joy if our focus isn’t on the sovereign God over the problem. He handles it! He takes care of it! He is our joy in those places of hardship and trying situations.

No joy today? Then get alone with your maker and the creator of the universe and life itself. When our lives centre around Him, joy abundant flows from the hem of His garment infiltrating every tiny detail of our circumstances. He’s there for you today! Seek His face and rejoice with the Psalmist in Psalm 28:7,
Psalm 28:7 “The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.”

Hey You! Don’t Give Up!

Don't Give Up!
Don’t Give Up!

So many things don’t turn out the way we hope they will or “when” we think they should. It doesn’t make our hope wrong or make it wrong to anticipate the hope of our heart. Nor does it give us the right to give up, or throw in the towel. Neither should “not receiving” what we desire, shake our faith. Our faith is more than our circumstances. It’s more than our heart’s desire. It’s more than our successes and it’s more than the love of our life. ‘Real’ faith is not receiving from God what we want, but it is accepting from God what He gives. When we can get to that point my friend, When we can accept the disappointments as His appointments, then He can begin to show us His plan. Perhaps He’s just ushered you into the real place of His divine purpose. For that reason we have to keep plodding on through the ups and downs of it all!! We have to persevere, keep going ~ strong in the faith…..strengthened in the Hope that we have in Christ. He is victorious!! That victory is ours. Claim it my friend, even when you don’t feel it, or see it. He embraces us with grace for the moment, but that grace dispenses freely on the obedient who follow Him through those extremely tough times.

To persevere means to stay with it, see it through until the end; in the Christian context, it means to hold onto your faith through thick and thin, through every trial, and every storm, to the end of this earthly life. Yeah, it’s true that perseverance is not an easy assignment. In fact, throughout the Bible we see believers subjected to tests of their faith, some of which seem extraordinarily difficult. Abraham told to sacrifice his son, Daniel in the lions’ den, Joseph in prison and Jeremiah in the miry pit are all examples of extreme situations that called for huge faith in God on the part of these believers.

Hebrews 10:36 “Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that He has promised.” It is not enough to have one moment of faith with no growth, no fruit, and no learning, because spiritual fruit is a vital ingredient and cannot be omitted. If we persevere in the faith, we remain in the will of God. Those who do His will, enter His kingdom. Matthew 7:21

Little Thoughts For Big Days
Little Thoughts For Big Days

So if you feel defeated and your problem seems insurmountable, tell it how big your God is and leave it with Him!  Trust Him through it regardless of your feelings and what you see. Remember the enemy knows where he can break through and attack!  He’ll catch you when you’re not looking ~ not alert!   Don’t forget that God’s hand controls the universe and your little world. His power is greater!   His victory is sure!   His grace sweet and His love unconditional.   He’s got your problem!   He’s got your back!   He’s got you covered so if you doubt His skilled mastermind and sovereignty ~ don’t!   He’s working behind the scenes of your trial in ways that you could never comprehend.   He will bring you through!   He will get you to the other side!

1 John 4: 4
“You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”

Luke 8:22
One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set out.” …we know the rest…We know about the storm that came up, and their fear and how Christ spoke peace into the eye of it and calmed the wind and the waves. That’s what He does. I love how He does it!
