Fragmented Hope

So what happens when we’ve run out of road and the journey goes on? What then? What, when the final glimmer of it is reamed against the ‘dead-end’ at the dead end and fragments into a heap at the wearied feet of the sojourner?

What then?

Yeah, it’s real, and nothing is hopeful! Not at anymore! Not at all! Well, sweet soul, you just feel that sweet hope of yours, that was all warmly tucked into the heart, isn’t even a hope any longer and the ‘all done in’ is ‘all done out’ and outright flat on its broken back, Yet the journey remains! Oh it’s heavy, when the hope is crushed, the heart is fragmented and the journey is long! So what then?

Beautiful soul, the thing is, sincere Hope is not ours to manage but truly comes from the Father of Light! That fragmented heap of hope at your feet, it isn’t yours. It’s His! The Sovereign God who always gives and yes, He takes away but Yes, He always restores! He always mends! He always repairs! He always manages so brilliantly, all of our affairs. So when everything goes South, and when that last hope fragments at our feet, well, we simply trust Him, and we trust Him more, because it’s in our Trust in the Savior, that we find our Hope restored again because when our Hope is gone, His is not! He never gives up, nor in! And so- when there’s always Trust in Him, there’s always more hope!

So what do we do? Well, we pick up that brokenness and we find the hope in each jagged piece as we establish its rightful place back into our heart alongside the Saviour of Light and Truth. Oh the pieces are too jagged for us to fit together, so they don’t have to be put together properly as He alone does that! He alone knows the way that we take and He alone gives the Hope that we need for the road that we travel. He alone breaks to mend, Mends to restore and restores to make stronger. Job knew it all too well when he penned the words of Job 23:10, “But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.”

So let us say with the Psalmist in Psalm 147: 3, “He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.” and know that you know the Truth in the words of Psalm 34: 18, “The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Oh, what a sweet promise of hope lies in these words for us. For you and I and we and us, oh what a sweet promise of hope!

So, as we approach this Advent season of the Christ One, and focus on the hope He brought to us in His coming, know that your Hope is Him and In Him and find that sweetness of Hope coming to light once again, into your beautiful soul. Because friends, the journey isn’t over yet..and with Jesus, by our side, there’s always Hope for that!

Offerings Of Praise

dsc_0021-nested-saphire-graceful
So when the thanksgiving celebration is over and the turkey is gone and the meal has been devoured are the hearts still thankful ~ or not? Do we still persevere and run the race in thankfulness or have we somewhere along the way picked up negative vibes of other stuff to slow us down, and push our gratefulness to the back burner? Pushed it to some out-of-sight, remote corner of our world where it’s dark and dismal? A place where anxious worry and fears, oh so real fears, tug at us from all the far corners of the earth and overpower our clear thinking? What is it that won’t let go of the mind so that you can find the peace you desire, and need? Yeah, we all have the moments when we forget to be thankful for the small stuff because anxiety trumps (no pun intended) our thankful spirit! Worry takes over life and we begin living in nooks and crannies of despair simply because it all seems so hopeless. There’s a whole bunch of us living there, in the crowded corners of fear, wondering our next move and what it should be! There’s no empty space! No clear way! No direct path out and so what’s one to do as a prisoner in your own body?

Beautiful you ~ Track back to that corner of gratefulness, wherever you left it and find the blessing in the bleak! Track back to the good and yeah, even the not so good and find the golden threads of promise that have held you together this long. Untie them! Unravel them and take a good, long look at what you hold in your hand. Promises of God? His love, His guidance, His faithfulness, His Blessings? Yeah, so many, some mixed in with hurts and disappointment because life is life but things that God used to make you who you are today. He doesn’t waste pain! He uses every trace of it to strengthen our weakness and pull us out and up from where we are to where we can be. He still cares and that’s reason to offer praise from even a hurting heart! An offering of praise to our creator is the best antidote for anxiety. David lamented while hiding in a cave, fearing for his life, and writes his heart felt prayer in Psalm 142: 5, “I cry to your O Lord; I say ‘You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.” Listen to my cry, for I am in desperate need; rescue me from those who pursue me, for they are too strong for me. Set me free from my prison that I may praise Your name.” and then He does just that in Psalm 145:1, “I will exalt You, my God the King;…great is the Lord and most worthy of praise.”

So yeah, today in that anxious corner find the blessing in the bleak and let praise pour out of your grateful heart to the One on the heavenly throne. The Sovereign One in charge and watch the fear dissipate and melt away from your mind! Enter into the land of the living once more and allow God to be your refuge and your portion!

He’ll Take It From Here

Little Thoughts For Big Days
Little Thoughts For Big Days

Embrace God’s love today and don’t throw in the towel because discouragement has it’s hold on you. Hope lies tucked away in those forlorn and lonely places and discouragements in God’s economy are merely growth elements to test your faith, grow your faith and catapult the real you into faithfulness and perseverance! They take you from phony to real! God sees you and He knows your issues more than you do. He’s the mastermind behind the solution but He is not a pie in the sky Santa Claus who dispenses everything we desire just because we desire it. His work goes deeper than that. He wants you! He wants us as empty as we are ~ as disappointed as we are ~ and yes, as discouraged as we are. If discouragement has you emptied of yourself, it’s all good ~ you’re in the right place where God can pick you up and move you forward. The answer lies over the horizon so don’t stop now! It not a key for us to lock the doors of opportunity and challenge and walk away consumed with a selfish”Woe is me”attitude.  Not at all!  We have to realize it is the enemy’s subtle device for slamming those doors in our faces though, leaving us feeling hurt, angry and bitter and ready to give up.   Ahh ~ those disappointments they come in all sizes and shapes and from all sides but don’t give in to them ~ Give them to a God who knows the end from the beginning and desires the best for everyone involved. He’ll work them out “for” you as He does a work “in” you, but it won’t be an overnight fix or a quick band-aid to merely make you feel better! His divine, healing ointment of grace, mercy, and unconditional love will spill out and fall over the hurts and saturate your soul with Hope. Let Him take it from here …

Romans 5: 3, 5

“Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,  and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”
