Where Is Hope?

Romans 15:13

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Our only hope in this wretched sin filled world is the God of our salvation who has made a way for us to escape it’s strongholds, it’s grip and the consequences of it’s death and ruin. By trusting in this One, who has made a way for us, through the death and resurrection of His pure, sinless Son, Christ our Savior, the lamb of God, the mediator between us and His Father, we can know the Hope of Life eternal and abundant life here on this earth.

In Col. 1:27, Paul reminds us that the message of hope and salvation is for everyone who will accept it when he says,

“To whom God was pleased to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory”

What confirmation that God is our only true source of Hope. Anything else in this life, that makes such a claim is a false teaching and a lie straight from the enemy. There is no hope for one who is dead in trespasses and sin but As Christ ones who trust in the Lord and in our Sovereign God, our creator and our sustainer may we be filled with a confident Hope. May we be supernaturally empowered by the Holy Spirit’s work within us to experience an abundant and overflowing joy and transcending peace that comes from our Heavenly Father.

For the difficult days, the struggles and the disappointments may we know and experience Your unfailing love for us God and move on victoriously in that divine Hope, peace and joy in spite of surrounding circumstances.

Persevere In Obedience

Psalm 119:114

“You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word.”

In Psalm 119: 109 – 112 the psalmist recognizes his vulnerability before his enemies because of his commitment to Godly obedience. He offers praise to God and refuses to fall away from divine instruction, even in the face of evil doers who plot against him. Over and over in these verses, he confirms His delight in and His love for God’s treasured words. What determination He has to stand against evil and be obedient to the end. There is refuge and safety in the Words of our Lord. A place to find peace, grace, joy and a Hope to carry on in spite of surrounding circumstances.

Paul too, knew the secret! He was imprisoned unfairly, accused wrongly, rejected and neglected, yet he stayed the course of obedience to his God. What prison has you bound today? What enemies search for you? Don’t give up, don’t give in, don’t succumb. Stay strong in obedience to Christ and like the Psalmist, confirm your delight in His instruction. With determination and Godly strength rise above the evil doers and like Paul keep your eye on the heavenly prize, run the race with perseverance and stay the course to the end.

Overflowing With Hope?

Roman’s 15:13

“But I pray that God the source of Hope will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope, through the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Before elaborating on the Good news to the Romans, Paul set out the dark backdrop of universal, human sinfulness thereby making the Good news necessary for their hopeless situation. Their hopelessness had a remedy found only in God who was their source of Hope and is our only source of Hope and confidence even today. Imagine a cup of cool, refreshing water overflowing its brim; flowing in constant motion, like a fountain that circulates an ongoing supply, never running out, never running dry, never stopping, never getting to its end.

As we Trust God, imagine God, who IS our source of Hope completely filling us with His ongoing joy and peace. A joy and peace that ushers in Hope that in like fashion circulates continually, overflowing within us, never running out, running dry or reaching its end. Imagine Hope or “confident expectation for good,” springing eternal within us, even in the dark, the bleak, the wilderness, the dry seasons and those oh so down times.

Paul’s prayer was for the people of Rome, his hearers, to overflow with this kind of Hope of glory and Hope eternal. It’s his prayer for us as well!!
Are you overflowing with Hope today?

God’s Astounding Greatness!

Psalm 46:1

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

He is our Rock, our Fortress, our shelter in the time of storm, and our Tower of Refuge! He is our Mighty God, our Everlasting Father, our Rock of Ages, our help in time of need and our shield of protection. He is our Salvation, our Saving Grace, our Redeemer and our King!

“Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? If I go up to the heavens, You are there! If I rise on the wings of the dawn, If I settle on the far side of the sea, even there Your hand will guide me. Your right hand will hold me fast.” Psalm 139: 7-10.

“Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though it’s waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.” Psalm 46: 2, 3

Why do we fear?

The Psalmist knew who God was! He knew Him to be His protection and his strength in trial. Do you know Him? Can you grasp His greatness and His astounding, amazing protection in your time of need?

To know Him is to see fear cease and trust take root. He is Lord of Lords, Sovereign over all! He has our back and He cares deeply about every detail of our lives. Let’s be challenged today, to live like we believe it and let’s allow faith take root in our hearts and minds as we go about our day!

Blessings to you sweet friends!
