Acceptance Heals

Raising four kids over my ‘mom’ years has taught me some interesting and valuable lessons about forgiveness. I’m still learning but I’ve realized it isn’t about the other person or the offender at all. No ~ As selfish as it sounds, It’s about the “me, myself and I”, before the Lord, in the situation, and His power and His strength in us, giving us the ability, to accept the loss or the hurt, regardless of how deep it may go! We have to get closer to God in order to forgive and accept any loss. You see beautiful soul, simple ‘acceptance’ releases the chained weight of the bitter spirit. That bitterness that binds and tugs around the ankle! Simple acceptance, like a key, clicked in the lock, sets us free of the offence! Yeah, simple, straight forward acceptance! It’s the only way! Only then can I ‘begin’ to heal in the whole healing process. It won’t be instant, it never is, but just as time heals a surgery, a wound, or a broken bone; the broken heart, the pain of offence and the hurt of loss also heals with time, if we’ve accepted the loss before our Lord who lost His life at the hands of the angry mob. What did He do? He prayed, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” They weren’t asking but He accepted His brutal treatment and ultimate loss of life on the cross and all for us, who are so undeserving! So must we ask God to forgive them and “accept” our lot and our loss? You see, when we accept the loss, it can’t get any worse so, what does it matter? It’s done! it’s over! It’s happened and we can’t change it! So we accept it and we learn from it! We forgive and we are forgiven over and over and over again in this life and each time we move on hopefully a little smarter and a little wiser in our journey!

Think of it this way! Have you ever forgiven your kids, even when they haven’t asked? When they’re young, we do don’t we? And in their child-like simplicity, they forgive us when we fail them in their little worlds, so big to their concerns. It’s all in a day’s work and just a valuable part of training in kids-world and parenting. However, as they get older with their own minds and rebellious behaviours, it becomes a little more “adult-like” difficult and chances are they’re not asking because they don’t care. So, rather than harbour it, holding it against them ~ we have to accept what they’ve done, forgive and let it go and yeah, maybe ten times a day or more and always with the knowledge of another day tomorrow with maybe more of the same scenario. Remember the offender seldom asks nor do they have the ability nor power to heal. If we depend on the offender for our healing we may take the bitterness to our grave.

Matthew 18: 21, 22
“Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times? “Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.”

Beautifully Imperfect

So here we sit, you and I, in our imperfect world in our imperfect state and you gotta know that you are “beautifully” imperfect wherever you sit and the enemy’s attack on you and I and we and us, is far more about your future potential and what God is going to do with you, than your past failure! It’s not about who you’ve been, or what you’ve done, but in the enemy’s mind, it’s all about who you may become!! Oh yeah, he’s roaming to see who might be easy prey, so he can do what he can in his power to bring defeat into your thoughts. If he can get into your thinking pattern he’s well on his way. Don’t go there! Don’t let him catch you off guard without the spiritual armour in tact.

If you’ve been raised out of the pit of broken to a higher height and if God has brought you out of a hard time to bless you in your walk with Him, and lead you into challenging places of His work and ministry, then it’s a given that you are under the enemy’s surveillance camera! Spiritual armour is a must have in these days where we may be easily tracked to be set up for failure! You gotta know those same all powerful, heavenly, sovereign arms that lifted you out of the mire to set you free, still have hold of you to pull you into and under the safety and shelter of divine protection! It’s a safe place here with the Saviour, where the the enemy’s lies can’t reach you and his tricks can’t deceive you, and his half truths can’t harm you.

Oh yeah, you beautiful one that you are, you are God’s child, loved by Him, protected by Him, and guarded by Him. Stay safe there for now, under His wings sheltered from the storm, the enemy and all that comes and goes. For now, find peace there until the outside chaos is hushed and the evil one has been silenced and leaves to let you be.

Free from his tricks for now, and It’ll just be for now and for a time, but it’s here with the Saviour, and our Redeemer that we gain new strength for the road and what’s ahead. Oh yeah, it’s not about your past at all, so let it go; freed and forgiven you are in Christ and now it’s about your future, your potential, your victory in Christ that’s prime target for defeat, but as a child of God, you gotta know that you know that you know, that He has his stamp of approval all over you and your imperfections, and who you are in Him is awesome, and not anything can get in the way of His work, and His desire for you!

David knew His God was a God of Truth, his Refuge, his Fortress, his Rock, his Redeemer, and his Saviour and in Psalm 31 he voices it so beautifully, when he says, and ~ say it with him, “In you O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in Your righteousness. Turn Your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress, for the sake of Your name lead and guide me. Free me from the trap that is set for me, for you are my refuge. Into Your hands I commit my spirit; redeem me, O LORD the God of Truth.
Psalm 31: 1-5

Heaps of “Fall So Far Short”

Little Thoughts For Big Days
Little Thoughts For Big Days

So, hey there ~ you and I and we, and everyone who sits in our heaps of “Fall so far short’ guilt. Just when you’ve picked yourself up to move on, you landed a sideswipe and got knocked off course with stuff that you didn’t expect and it hit and it hit hard. Your world took it’s place between a rock and a hard place and even though it was little really, compared to what could have been, it was so huge to you, because you didn’t know how to deal with it or manage it or go with the flow of it, so you didn’t do so well with it and so maybe your anger got the best of you and reached a 10 out of 10 on the scale. Maybe your fears overtook your trust and maybe even your steady faith took a spiral downward through the wrestling match of “This is not fair and not acceptable” and getting on track after such upheaval seems so underestimated and overrated. It’s just not easy stuff to do and after all why should minding your own business cause such trouble?

The good news is that God knows about it and He sits there beside that heap of ‘guilt – ridden’ beautiful soul of yours and desires to pick you up yet once again, and wipe the slate clean, and forget it ever happened. He promised He would ~ so just let Him take care of it. Sit in His presence in the sweet, heavenly places and let His rich mercy, forgiving love ~ His rich, deep, forgiving love ~ rescue you and cover you and grace you and bless you abundantly. We, who sit in the ash heaps of guilt are truly His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus, even when we think we’re not, and He truly does love us beyond measure! So ~ Believe it now, beautiful soul and walk on in your faith!

Ephesians 2: 4-10
“But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, in Christ Jesus, in order that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
