A Night Of Slumber

The birth of the Christ-child, broke through the barriers of a dark, ripped apart world that night while it slumbered, and it graced and illuminated us with a real-life story of God’s plan of action! His divine solution to the ruin of sin and the death it brings, lay helpless in that manger. Yeah, a real-life story of Jesus’ divine birth, painful death, and glorious resurrection was set into motion that night to bring hope to all people everywhere.

A Star Is Born on that glorious night

So begin today’s journey with a thought at the manger! Ponder the cradle, just to regroup and rejuvenate that busy heart and when the lights go out and the nights are still so dark, and the world still slumbers on in oblivion, you know Jesus. Let His presence calm and lead, awaken and enlighten your beautiful soul.

So hey ~ The night is far spent and our nights are long ~ and yeah~ even at this joyous time of celebration, the world and we ~ still slumber in so many ways, oblivious to His grace, His unconditional love and His divine plan of salvation. Oh, we full-well know and we’re not ignorant of His story and His grace, but we just forget ~ being so wrapped up in gift-giving and wrapping and baking and buying and decorating and friends and family and ~ perfection! Busy hearts, busy minds, and hectic preparation rob the joy from the oh, so-sweet celebration that it’s meant to be.

Peace On Earth

The angels proclaimed it at His coming and Oh can’t we all use a little peace today? Peace on the earth and peace in the soul? It’s one of the precious gifts He brought to earth when He came to heal the sin issues. Although the whole world doesn’t get it yet, the hearts and minds of those who invite Him in can! It’s a quiet sense of well-being even when all is not well.

Thing is when His people, His followers, experience such a precious peace, they can share it with a world in pain and help to make a difference. It seems we can hurt or we can heal through our choices, our actions, our behaviours and our words. Jesus came ‘kind’ to bring kindness and breathe peace into our chaos. Let’s go out ‘kind’ as He did and breathe even just a touch of His peace to others, through our words and actions. Today, He shows us the way of peace through His commandments and if we follow Him and focus on Him we won’t get lost in distractions!

Luke 2: 14
“Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

Peace In The Night

In the early morning hours when the morning seems still very night and very dark, I open the patio doors to catch a glimpse of the weather. The summer air greets me with a warm, pleasant, aromatic aura and even though still dark, it can feel kinda peaceful and safe. Winter, though is a different story with a different dark, hanging over a chill in the air and a rather cold greeting! Yeah, it’s in the winter, I love to close the doors tight to shut it out and come back into the warmth and sparkle of the tree lights gracing our Advent season! There’s just something about light in the dark isn’t there? And something about peace and ‘safe’ in the light? What do we do though, when life itself is the dark, and life itself greets us with that cold shoulder, yet there are no doors to close tight to shut it out? No visible lights in sight just because ‘life’ happens to make us feel like a prisoner behind its unfair walls of pain, remorse, hurt, broken, and disappointment? Yeah, what then when the world’s gone out, the lights go out, and there’s no peace and there you are alone in your thoughts? Friends, we need to seek the Light of the miracle that happened in Bethlehem. If we walk in our Savior’s Light, He brings peace into the cold, scary night of life! Thing is, no matter then, what’s on the doorstep when we turn our face and our thoughts toward His Light, His sweet peace greets us! A five-star plus miracle happened that night in the dark night of Bethlehem for you and me and we and us. I love how it happened in the dark, don’t you? Births can happen at any time of day but our Prince of Peace and the Light of Our World, came at night, into a rude stable and a crude manager, and was announced with a bright star of light! It seems a blessed miracle met Mary and Joseph there that night, in the dark, on the stable floor surrounded by lowly animals; a Savior, a Peace Giver, a Deliverer, and a Redeemer. Both theirs and ours for such a time as this.

The dark! The night; our miracles happen there in those places. So, for now, today, If you close the doors on that cold shoulder of life, to seek the Star of Bethlehem, you just might find new hope in your heart has come. Your miracle awaits in His peace! Trust Him for it. Isaiah 32: 16- 18

“The Lord’s justice will dwell in the desert, His righteousness lives in the fertile field. The fruit of that righteousness will be peace; its effect will be quietness and confidence forever. My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.”

Resting In The Promises

So it’s ok to just rest now. Rest in the promise of God’s peace. Rest your tired self, your broken heart, your sadness, your disappointment, your grief, your fear, your insecurity, and just rest all the other stuff that runs frantically to win the race in your mind. So much! Too much!

Yeah, but you can just rest in that precious promise of safety from our Lord because whatever it is that binds your mind with worry can be calmed by the Peace speaker. The Psalmist knew there was safety in His presence and he could sleep calmly and unafraid in peace, under God’s protection. So can we, regardless of what’s swirls around our heads, we can rest in the sweet assurance that we are safe in His keeping and that nothing can interfere with His plan. ❤
