Psalm 51:12

“Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.”

David had committed both adultery and murder and was living in denial when God sent the prophet Nathan to crack open the case and expose the sin for what it was. David knew in his heart he had failed but foolishly thought he could hide it from God. He was living without joy and communication with the God he loved had been broken. His joy had departed from him and he just surviving. It wasn’t that God had left Him, but simply that David himself, had moved from God’s presence into sin. God can’t look on the unrighteousness of our lies, our cheating, our envy, our jealousy, our addictions and the many things that distract us from His holiness. We can’t harbor sin in our lives and live for God at the same time. If we deny it, cover it, lie about it, or run from it, we can be sure that guilt will haunt us, stalk us and catch up to us to snag us much like a wild animal catches it’s prey. David knew in the agony and shame of that moment of exposure that God was still His best friend, loving him unconditionally and that His grace and forgiveness was available no matter what he had done. What a comfort for us to know of David’s failure. He was a man after God’s own heart, chosen by God to do His work, yet he fell short. Let’s learn from him! He knew the joy of his salvation rested in God’s forgiveness, grace and mercy. He knew there would be consequences, but he was willing to begin again by making good choices with the God of His salvation. Let’s know that it’s never too late to begin to make the right choices.

If you feel weary and exhausted from the game of hide and seek that you’re playing with God, you can know that He already knows your place and your position. Nothing surprises Him! He knows what you think you’re hiding. He knows how you feel. He knows your thoughts, your motives and your outcome. He knew Adam and Eve were hiding and why they hid. They had consequences for their actions as well, but they also had God’s unconditional love, and favor as we do, when we come clean before Him. Come out of hiding and find your lost joy and communication restored with the God who made you, and only wants to love you in spite of your shortfalls, failures and sin. That’s what He does! Let Him do it in your life. Let Him free you from the guilt that binds you.

A New Day Dawns(¸.•´ (¸.•´ .•´ ¸¸.•¨¯`• ♥k

“Teach me how to live O Lord. Lead me along the right path, for my enemies are waiting for me. Do not let me fall into their hands.” Psalm 27: 11

Today is a new day that dawns and It’s a new morning to be thankful for!!

They say a picture is worth a thousand words and this photo does tell a story..

After my son’s car accident on June 7th in the summer of 2012, we were very grateful that he was still alive because when one wraps a car around a tree, all logical reasoning would have had all three young men’s lives snuffed out and killed at impact.   God is good, and He spared their lives in that horrendous wreck. I loved how a news report questioned the women figure that some thought they saw, yet seemed to disappear into oblivion that night without a word!  Truth was, there was not a women involved at the scene of the crash, but I believe firmly with all my heart that what they saw was a heavenly figure and a guardian angel sent divinely by God Himself, to protect those three young men.   Phil, without a seatbelt, remained secure in the driver’s seat while the whole engine came crashing into the car.  He wasn’t thrown and he wasn’t crushed.    He escaped with only a broken ankle, but also with much emotional trauma!    It’s a trauma that will leave scars for a lifetime.   His friend, Wes, suffered severe brain injury in the wreck and hovered between life and death for weeks on end. The endless time seemed like years, and it seemed a time that we hardly dared breath as we dreaded every phone call during those devastating days!!   However, the multitude of prayers from God’s people brought peace to our hearts, that far surpassed all understanding. Looking back, the peace that surrounded us, walking through that horrendous time, was definitely something that can’t be explained.  I’m sure if I could see the big picture in hind sight, it would be one of those times when there was only one set of footprints because God had us covered and carried us gently in His arms.

The Lord  restored life back to Wes, and in just four short months his recovery was remarkable. October 24th was his hospital release date, at which time he went home to continue on to full recovery with rehabilitation!  We thank the Lord for His faithfulness to us and look forward to possibly catching a glimpse of His purpose in all of this as time goes by.   If you see this blog and you are a praying person, I would ask you to put Phil on your daily prayer list for continual prayer support. The road ahead is long and winding and we pray for God’s purpose to be fulfilled in Phil’s life, and that this deep pain will not be wasted.

This photo depicts a trail that we walked with Phil after his ankle had healed sufficiently enough for him to manage! It was a hot day and the sun shone brightly. We were thankful for life itself as we made our way through this dense forest with our son, knowing full well that we had just been thrust into a season of denseness ourselves, where utter real life chaos didn’t make any sense at all.  It was a difficult season to focus on much of anything and we found ourselves walking through it very carefully, step by step!  We still tread carefully over much unknown ground, watching God unfold His miracles along the way.

We can truly relate to David’s words in Psalm 30: 1, where he says, “I will exalt You Lord for you rescued me. You refused to let my enemies triumph over me. You brought me up from the grave O Lord. You kept me from falling into the pit of death.”

Phil still has much road to travel, and much ground to regain as we cross many paths along the way! Through it all, we pray for wise learning and wisdom for life and we are confident of this, “That He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1: 6

If we have life itself, we have a miracle. If we’ve taken a breath this morning it’s a miracle. Let’s enjoy and savor every moment of it while we still can. For me, my camera lets me do just that as I walk around with it in my hand, enjoying the beauty of created things and life itself,.. Have a wonderful and blessed day my sweet friends.

Identity Theft

The story goes of a gentleman waiting to board a plane at an airport. While he waits, he decides to get a small bag of doughnuts and a coffee. After making the purchase he discovers one problem: there are no open tables at the coffee shop. He finally manages to find an empty seat at a table at which just one other man is sitting.
The man sits down at this table and begins to peel the lid off his coffee cup. He takes a sip. He puts his hand into the bag of doughnuts and takes out one doughnut and begins eating. Then something absolutely absurd happens. The man sitting across from him puts his hand into the same bag of doughnuts, smiles, takes a doughnut and begins eating. The first man is taken off guard. He does not know what to do. This is the first case of doughnut theft he can think of. He then makes a point by giving the other man a look that could kill. Then he takes a doughnut from his bag of doughnuts and eats his doughnut. Before he has time to finish eating, the other man once again dips into the bag for another. The doughnut-theft victim is baffled and now outraged. He is envisioning years of professional psychiatric care. He thinks, “What is the world coming to? We are now stealing doughnuts from each other?” Surely this should be the end of the story right?

Well, the doughnut thief gathers his own belongings as he needs to catch a flight. He smiles politely at the burgled victim, gets up and then once again dips into the bag to find only one left! He breaks, the doughnut in half and leaves one half in the bag and makes his departure, but not without a final seething look from the doughnut burgled victim. The doughnut victim is, of course, in shock, but he has his own flight to catch. As he bends down to get his suitcase, he’s even more shocked to find his own bag of doughnuts on top of his luggage.

He ate humble doughnuts, as he realized his accusations of the other man stealing was not stealing at all but, in fact, sharing, while he, on the other hand had been the thief! What an eye opener to the accusing and aren’t we guilty of the same kinds of things? We point fingers, accuse and blame others for what we ourselves are guilty of, either knowingly or unknowingly. Sometimes our accusations against others come because we don’t clearly see what really is happening and perhaps the problem lies in our own ignorance and perception.
