Seeing More Clearly

Seeing More Clearly

Some days after the storm settles somewhat, the light comes and the mind sees maybe a bit more clearly after the gale dies down.

Has it happened to you? You know, when you’ve been beaten up against a brick wall of hopelessness, in just plain, crazy, life situations and then God comes through with His take on the picture, and whispers into your heart some kind of peace and some kind of courage even in the midst of whatevers going down? A new light on the subject, a new promise, a new scripture verse, a new way of seeing things, a new angle, a new thought or a few new thoughts ~ thoughts more powerful than the battle itself because God enlightened and His thoughts are not our thoughts, and His ways are not our ways.

There is hope in every situation
hope in every situation

His battles are won without wars and His peace passes all understanding. Yeah, even in the midst of everything and in the heat of dreadful battle, His peace trumps the churning strife and turmoil of what the world threatens. So, trust then and rest when the storm settles, and let Him speak in His still, small voice into your beautiful soul. Let Him enlighten your mind and open your heart to a new thought, a new counsel, a quiet view, a tranquil heart. Allow Him to renew your tender spirit and free it to soar to new heights regardless of that bleak and daunting stuff lurking in the corners. Yeah, just rest now, and wait for His timing and His winning team to play it right and come out on top.

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:31

Position And Politics

DSC_0043 snowdrop innocence

Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.”.
Mark 9: 34, 35

Jesus had just announced His imminent death and wouldn’t you just know, His disciples argued over who would be the greatest in the Kingdom after Jesus was gone. Imagine that!! “Who would be the greatest”? The boss, the one in charge? Yeah, there they were already politicking for position, honor and glory while Jesus was present. Arrogant and rude for sure, but isn’t that the world’s way of thinking? Elbow your way through at all cost! It’s survival of the fittest in this world! Look out for me, myself and I. Look out for number one!

In the Kingdom of God it’s a reverse twist ~ a very different story as God’s economy runs contrary to that view. How often do we get it wrong? In the natural world, our arrogance believes that heightened stature is the crowning prize in life until Christ comes along and waves a flag of caution in our faces. He shows us that ‘our’ way up is really the fast way down! He tells us that it’s not the driver in the lead, speeding off to leave their mark that wins the Father’s praise, but rather the one who silently crawls into the back seat, or the one whose willing to cook the hotdogs in the stands who pleases Him the most. Where are you today? Fighting for position, undermining others to gain leadership or control? If so, you set yourself up for a huge fall, and like Humpty Dumpty, who sat proudly on the wall, you may end up with nothing to show for your effort but shattered shell. Of course as the rhyme goes we know that all the king’s horses and all the king’s men couldn’t put Humpty together again, but In God’s Kingdom and sovereign rule, we know that He is in the business of redeeming, reshaping, remolding, refining, renewing and making His people whole! If you find yourself in a position of failure and ruin know that God will restore you if you stop trying to be number one! Become the ‘least’ in your program, as God’ takes first place. Take your hands off and let Him do His work in your life, your marriage, your work, or your ministry. Let Him recycle your pain and failure and make it into something beautiful for His glory and His honour.

Jesus came to “serve” not to be served. We, as His disciples are to follow His example and honor will follow. Let’s be challenged today to take the back seat as we encourage others along the way to make it to the top!

Will The Real Enemy Please Stand Up?

  • If only we could only grasp the fact and come to a full understanding that while in the heat of our battles our struggles with one another are not really with one another at all, but with the enemy himself in the unseen dimension of spiritual forces. In the middle of discouragements, anxieties, power struggles, deceptions, and all the horrendous battles we face, it’s the old enemy and deceiver who has gained a foothold and is doing all in his power to bind us in our strongholds of selfishness, pride, resentment, bitterness, anger, strife and unforgiveness. He knows how to render us ineffective and will target us in our weakest moment and at our weakest point. We must be on guard, alert to his strategies, ready to take our stand and stand our ground against him. It’s crucial to daily wrap ourselves in the full armor of God. To stand on God’s righteous Truth, grounded with peace, clothed and protected with the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and God’s all powerful Word; the sword of the Spirit. Notice, there is nothing for our back. A good indication that we are not to run from the problem by protecting ourselves with lies or calling judgement on others. Rather, we are called to simply stand firm in God’s confidence, trust Him, make the right choices, do the right things, and watch Him deliver us into victory.

Christ out-witted the strategy of the Prince of the power of the air, milked the serpent of his venom, out-thought the thinkers, out-fought the fighters, outclassed the mighty and asserted His universal Lordship. Jesus Christ is Lord; Sovereign and omnipotent. Ruler and King of Kings.

Let’s raise the banner of God’s sovereign majesty and fly His victorious flag, high for all to see…His victory is our victory! Let’s claim it for our lives for it’s through His victory that our marriages become stronger, our homes become happier, our families become more stable, our children more secure, our churches more spiritually alive and personal lives more solidly grounded, more mature in the faith. Put on that full armor before you face your day, remember His faithfulness and His promises and step out under God’s banner of victory!

    Ephesians 6: 10 – 13

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For we are not fighting against flesh and blood enemies but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand and after the battle you will still be standing firm.”.

    Psalm 91: 1, 2, 4a.
“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High, will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. He alone is my refuge, my place of safety. His faithful promises are your armor of protection..”

  • Whatever’s Going Down?

    Soul Fire
    Soul Fire

We’ve all been there haven’t we? Doing battle with the enemy? Trudging through the trenches, catching on the thickets, walking through the deadly fires of trial! In “deep” and just trying to keep our head above water as we find our way through the maze of whatever it is that’s going down? Yeah, we have! We’ve been there ~ everyone of us ~ trying desperately in our finite, and weak, human frame to just trust through a head knowledge that says “it’s” big and “it’s” steep and it’s out of our control, yet, it hangs over our weary heads, and tired frames like a Pig-Pen cloud! A cloud of thick, messy dust that just wants to settle right there overtop of our world. A dust cloud of “heavy” and “relentless” that wants to lodge right over our heads and weigh us down and push down, down and down even father still. You know it don’t you? Those wars that blow in out of nowhere to distract our spiritual focus and undermine our faith in the God who we say we trust?

So beautiful soul, these are the times to rise up on wings of faith above all the difficult, above all the nonsense, above all the hard places and the tight spots and let God plan the strategy for battle. He’s so skilled and so equipped to do it. He’s got just the right fight for the enemy and can run him off-course so quickly it will make your head swirl. He’s sovereign! He sees ahead and knows just the right move at just the right time. His strategy is out of this world and divinely sealed with awesome and exquiste perfection. His compassion so rich and His grace so sweet and His faithfulness so rock solid, that it can make our problem puny and pale. So you and I and we and us ~ we can trudge through those trenches, get all caught up in those thickets and get burned in the flames of our own futile, attempts or we can simply turn it all over to a God who still cares so deeply and covers our back so faithfully! It’s a no-brainer sweet soul, so whatever it is that hangs over you today, as hard as it is to ‘let it go’, let it go! Let it float over the hard spots and right into the hands of the Saviour of your world. He’s got it and He’s got you and even though there might be difficulty ahead, you can know He’ll bring you through! When the battle rages, and gets hot, step aside and make room for God.

For all of your broken heart and weary, beautiful soul, there is healing in Jesus name.
For all of your broken heart and weary, beautiful soul, there is healing in Jesus name.

“You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.’
    2 Chronicles 20:17

“Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.”
    Exodus 14:13
