What Then?

Sometimes life just kinda gets right in our face doesn’t it? And it’s not always pretty and it’s not always fun or fancy or fine. Some days it can be flat out miserable with pain and problems and things that just didn’t go as planned. What do we do then, when the good stuff seems to have seeped through the cracks and the bad outweighs the good and we’re left hurt and crumpled and outta sorts? What do we do then?

David says it so well, doesn’t he? “Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all His benefits- who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle.”

When The Pain Is Real

Some days the pain goes way deep and the hurt is really real and really hard and the heart hurts and the head hurts and the soul cries and the tears flow and the days are just so overwhelming.

In these anxious filled, difficult moments, we have an Author writing our lives with pen in one nail-pierced hand and a divine paintbrush of grace-filled red in the other. His blood was shed for us and yeah, He paints our story beautifully now because of it. He’s our Saviour and He’s made a way for us to make it through this hard place! Only because of the cross, His death, and His life can we have hope and do this hard thing, defying us and staring us in the face. So whatever it is He’s written and writing and hand-painted for your story, you gotta know He’s got this and His sustaining grace covers it for us. So beautiful you with beautiful soul, At such a time as this, He is our Healer, our Protector, and our Provider through it all and all the way to the cross He proved it. Now, just hand those anxious thoughts, that fear, disappointment, and deep hurt over into the pierced hands of the Saviour; the one and only Author of our faith who paints our story so perfectly; so beautifully perfect for us at such a time as this! It’s ok then to just breathe and rest in His care and safekeeping and know the promise of Romans 8: 28 is Truth!

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

Lay It All Out

So when it’s all said and done and there’s just nothing more to say, and there’s nowhere else to turn and your weary-worn self feels you’ve lost the battle, then take it to our all-knowing God, the Ancient of Days, the ever-present, all-knowing Beginning and the End! He’s your refuge and your strength! He’s your Councillor, your protector, your advocate, your intercessor, your moderator, your peacemaker your reconciler and your Savior. He wears all the hats and carries all the authority to make your life come together when it’s turned upside down and inside out. So ~ beautiful soul, go to Him and pour out your troubled, restless, and fearful heart and find solace in your struggle when no one else will listen!

Psalm 46; 1,2,3,9,10
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof…He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire… Be still, and know that I am God:
