Light In The Dark

There’s most likely a whole bunch of us that sometimes think no one else has been where we are, and it’s a lonely wilderness wandering where no one really and truly understands if anyone cares at all. Oh but beautiful one, no matter where it is or where you’ve walked, you can know that others have walked it, been there, done that and cut a path very similar to where you find yourself in these hard days but Oh don’t we long for the dawn in the dark? Don’t we wish the night to end to bring closure to the story?

Our psalmist, David, did too, when he found himself in the wilderness of Judah, Psalm 63! Here he reflects on God’s presence even through the night. He finds when light is absent, his God is his Light, illuminating his mind and his thoughts and in the hushed and stilled moments of his night he has time to ponder just how important life is when shared with his LORD. He’s everything He could ever be to David, and so worthy of praise!

So yeah, even David has been there, in the dark, in the night, running, hiding, thirsty for the refreshment of his God in a parched wilderness! It’s there though, where he gazed on God’s power and glory and caught a view of His realness, and we can too, in our dark, because it’s in the dark where He is our Light, our illuminator, giving insight to the blind spots, and wisdom for the next move.

“Oh God, You are my God. I earnestly search for You. My soul thirsts for You; my whole body longs for You in this parched and weary land where there is no water…..Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise You…You satisfy more than the richest feast. I will praise You with songs of joy.”

Psalm 63: 1, 3, 5
