He’s Got This

So there might be a whole lot fear heaped up ahead on the road you travel right now and panic might be driving the motor car and it’s reeling out of chaotic control now, heading right to your doorstep. And there it sits heavy on your shoulders right in the middle of that heap of fear and it’s got you pinned underneath it’s weight and yeah, the old saying that “No news is good news” has changed because just maybe we got news and it wasn’t good after all. No news was better wasn’t it? And it’s processing in our heads and our hearts right now and it’s a difficult place with hard steps and I wonder what it is it that has caused panic and fear to emerge with such force to make you want to throw in the towel and run fast in the other direction? We can’t do it! We can’t run away! We can’t run anywhere because our story is our story and it’s us and it’s ours to deal with. So we can’t make a get-a-way except straight into the outstretched arms of Jesus and step into His peace, even right where we are! You gotta know He’s got this. Your stuff has been Father filtered and even though it’s tough, it has His stamp of approval for this moment. And even though it’s a hard place, He has it and He has your back and He has unlimited grace enough to get you through. So beautiful soul, when the brokenness is harsh and the news is bleak and the pain is unbearable, and the mind can’t focus, rest in the nail pierced hands of the Savior, the Sovereign One who knows the pain. Yeah, for sure the One who spoke peace into the vicious storms and calmed the raging waters can and will whisper peace into your life.

Mark 4: 38 – 40
“Jesus Himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” And He got up and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Hush, be still.” And the wind died down and it became perfectly calm. And He said to them, “Why are you afraid? Do you still have no faith?”…

John 14: 27
“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

His Planned Purpose

So you and I ~ Just when we think we’ve got our agendas all thought through and all planned out and all ready to put into action, our ears hear a still small voice and words from Isaiah 56: 8 saying, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways.” And so we think twice about that little voice ~ or do we? Do we consider it or brush it off and press forward anyway? Yeah, God has spoken Truth into our aggressive souls and into our busy agendas and into our bold, brazen and prideful thoughts once again. Yeah, He brings us back to the reality of His Sovereign rule over us and over all of our ways and yet we’re so quick to turn away and go about our business.

But wait, beautiful you, there’s more beautiful truth for your beautiful soul, found in verse 9. Don’t miss it! It’s so important for us to catch and tuck away into our hearts, for such a time a this. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” He knows so much more than our small, human minds can even begin to understand. Read on to refresh your memory of how He alone, as Creator of heaven and earth, orchestrates the rain and the snow to fall from the heavens to water the earth with refreshment,  to restore with bud and seed for the sower and bread for the eater before returning back  to the heavens.

In the big picture He’s got it all. What a brilliant mastermind holds our lives in tact. Tuck that heart knowledge into your pocket for a rainy day when all seems lost. The One who recycles the rain and snow can recycle the loss and the pain too.  Ahh, those rainy days might come with a price but they also come with a purpose and oh~ He cares so deeply! He really does!   His word will not return empty but will accomplish what He desires. He Himself, says so in Verse 11. His plan is one of compassion for His people! He has a purpose for His own and a desire to see that purpose fulfilled in our lives. He cares about us and our agendas! Let’s not leave Him on the shelf while we run off outside of His plan with stars in our eyes to make success happen. Let Him in alongside to plan your plan and where He takes you from there will be a refreshingly, beautiful place to be ……

“You will go out in joy
and be led forth in peace;
the mountains and the hills will break forth before you,
and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.
Instead of the thorn bush will grow the pine.
Instead of briers the myrtle tree will grow.”

The Cross Of Obedience

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Luke 9: 23, 24.
“Then he said to them all: “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.”

Christ carried His humiliating and agonizing cross because of an amazing love that He had for His people. In order to bring salvation to a lost and dying world He had to be obedient to His Father’s will. He fulfilled God’s purpose in His life and in His death, when He denied Himself of all rights and gave of Himself, freely and obediently, in His sacrificial death on the cross.

As His followers and as His disciples we have been commissioned to Go and make disciples of all nations Matthew 28:18 -20. We have been called to represent Christ in this same world lost in hopelessness and despair and for the job, God has equipped His people with spiritual gifts, talents and skills to use in His work of building others up in the faith. Taking up our cross daily, is to be “obedient” to Christ in the work He has called us to. It may take us into frightening unknown places and places that aren’t pleasant. It may take us to beds of illness, heights of financial despair, rejections and disappointments, but through it all, ‘Self’ must take a back seat to allow us to get out there and be efficient in proclaiming the Good News of the Gospel of Christ to our circles of influence in a world filled with the hopelessness of a lost eternity.

Is it easy? No, it’s not easy! Discouragement sets in time and time again. We become tired, fearful, dissatisfied and discontent. Hurt and broken we can fall away becoming like strangers to our faith on the skid row of our circumstances. Our desires get out of whack and our priorities get all mixed up. No, it’s not easy to be obedient to our Savior and our cross, so our cross for Christ must be a daily evaluation supported and bathed in prayer, for there is no room for ‘me’ on my cross as I carry it for Him. The irony of it is that our cross of obedience is the only way to fulfill His plan for our lives and the only thing that will bring abundant life to our living. We can’t explain it, it’s just His way! To try to hang on to selfish pleasures will only take us into the pit of sin and bring ruin, desolation and hardship and that’s where we don’t want to find ourselves.

Let’s remember, If the Lord calls us to it, He will take us through it, no matter how difficult the calling, if we keep our eyes on Him and off of self. The bonus? He will bring the blessing along the way.

Let Healing Arise

So there’s a whole bunch of us going through a whole lot of hard stuff and tough seasons and a whole bunch of us needing a glimmer of hope for the unknown road ahead, because our humanness can’t see beyond what the eye sees. It can’t see the good in the bad or the joy in the sorrow ~ or the win in the loss, or the baby step forward in the giant step backward. But God does and He knows the end from the beginning and as He waves us on to the finish line of the hard season, He promises rest for the weary and peace for our souls. So, for now, you and I and we and us, let His grace embrace and His mercy catch us in the cross-fire of battle with the enemy. Lean in strong on His strength alone! Stand fast and stand firm in the faith and unshakeable in the Truth. Let hope and healing rise in your soul! Your miracle awaits! ~k
