Finish Line

Little Thoughts For Big Days

So yeah, we’re still running the race and some days it’s just hard isn’t it? We have our eye on the finish line; that victory that awaits for those of us running the spiritual race in this journey of life. The sprint is on and we’re doing alright until that dull ache suddenly shifts our thoughts for a moment. Out of focus and off beat, we weaken and fall prey to worry and fear and other stuff that becomes our downfall Oh so many things take us don’t they? Take us off course in the run to that final victorious finish line! Anything from relationships, to hardships, to illness to disappointment can take us down but beautiful soul, the finish line is still ahead and if you just took one more breath, it’s not too late! You can make it! You can still complete what you started. Persevere in the faith to which God has called you. Sure it’s tough but life is and your race isn’t over yet! God has much more to accomplish in and through you!

Paul reminds us from a prison cell, a huge distraction for him, in Phillippians 1: 5, 6, “in view of your participation in the gospel from the first day until now. For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.” Paul could have thought prison was a real distraction from his race of sharing the gospel efficiently, but the truth is God used that down time to get His important message out as He directed Paul to write inspired scripture, not only to the people of that day but to us. Yeah, us, we who have down times and still struggle and stumble and fall and get up and fall again and try as we might, yet we lag behind tripping over lost and futile steps. But in it all and in all the stuff that comes to take us down we don’t lose heart do we? And we don’t lose hope do we? Because our hearts are cradled and held close to God’s own heart and our hope is in Him and so is our victory. Our final heavenly, victory still awaits and so we press on, firm in the faith, steadfast in our hope, keeping on until the end, without ever a thought of giving up or giving in. We can’t; it’s not an option! When God calls, the race is on and the prize is out of this world.
Stay true beautiful soul, and let’s allow God do His perfect work in our imperfect lives in our imperfect world.

Matthew 24:13
“But he that shall persevere to the end, he shall be saved.”

Making Memories

Little Thoughts For Big Days
Little Thoughts For Big Days

Moment by moment we get through life with the kids…I used to think I’d never get caught up…well, I haven’t…the work is still there, the ironing still sits, the laundry still piles up. Dinner still needs to be made and the house still needs cleaning. It’s just all on a different level now..and as those little ones grow up and begin to move out don’t we seasoned moms realize just how much we didn’t really mind it back then? …

So beautiful soul, and busy mom ~ take time for tea parties and crayons! Coloring, cut outs and paper dolls. Storybooks, bubbles and finger painting. Toy trucks, trains and leggo! Make warm memories now, while you can. Life is passing quickly for everyone even though we don’t see it in the fleeting yet “oh so long” moment of things.

Self On The Shelf

Little Thoughts For Big Days
Little Thoughts For Big Days

So ~ you and I, we don’t need to live one more day entrapped in our selfish ambition! Ok, so it’s one of those ‘things’ of which we dare not speak. Who among us like to talk about it ~ and the thought that we might be one of those selfish creatures just doesn’t sit well with anyone! Oh yeah, we see it in others but in ourselves? Yeah, sadly, it’s just as real in our lives as it’s real in those close to us. Why do we see it so easily in others and look inwardly through a blind eye? It’s the nature of the beast and we just do!

You and I and we and us ~ well, we have a way of twisting the truth about it don’t we? Yeah, first of all we don’t call it that, rather it’s our right to express it, or to go after it or fight for whatever it is we want to get at all cost. Or we just deserve that break today don’t we? ~ and sometimes yes we do! Oh yeah, Sometimes we really do need a break without being driven by guilt, but to trample on toes to get everything we think we deserve ~ well let’s just call it what it is ~ boring, cruel selfish ambition!! Ouch!

But beautiful soul, It’s just there ~ in us, and so often doesn’t it raise it’s ugly head and bluntly and blatently shout out it’s obnoxious presence? Selfish living deceives us into truly believing that having it our way is freedom. Freedom to be who we are but truly it’s entrapment places us in bondage to who we are; nothing but poor sinful, creatures obsessed with ourselves and our stuff and yeah we’re spiralling quickly to self destruction. How much more entrapped can we be, when we continually want what we want without contentment? Thankfully God has made a way for us to escape the greed and the icy fingers of want wrapped in ingratitude and thanklessness. Paul reminds the Galatians and us as believers, in Galatians 5:1, that Christ has set them (us) free through faith in Himself, from their sin and so they were free indeed; no longer in slavery to rules and laws and performance. Further, In Galatians 5: 13, Paul goes on to say, “For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, (selfishness) but through love serve one another. For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, “You shall love your neighbour as yourself.”

Our wonderful freedom in Christ, through our faith in Him and through His grace, is not a licence to sin but to serve God and others. It’s our escape, preventative and our only absolute solution to self destruction associated with selfish desires and sinful living. Serving God and ‘Self’ can’t happen. The two can’t coincide. So, with all the honesty you and me can muster deep within ourselves, let’s ask point blank, “Who is being served today?” God desires your beautiful soul to serve Him alone and find how sweet it is to leave ‘self’ on the shelf.

Galatians 5: 24
“Those who belong to Christ Jesus, have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to His cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Sprit’s leading in every part of our lives. Let us not become conceited, or provoke one another, or be jealous of one another.”

2 Timothy 3: 1-5
“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.”

Picking Up The Pieces

Oh yes, He mends, He repairs, He restores and yes, He breaks, but only to remold a stronger character and spiritual maturity within our beautiful souls. Sometimes the break is just in two and sometimes it’s a fragmented heap of debris and ashes left at our feet. But He does care and He is there for the fix ~ the divine fix that goes right to the heart and the deep root of the problem and begins to heal the valuable groundwork of our brokenness. It’s not just a band-aid that God uses to make it all better but He reaches down with a love that’s so unconditional it can make us blush deep within our undeserving selves. He reaches down with an amazing grace beyond our comprehension and a rich mercy going beyond anything we can fathom. Why us? Why Me? But He does! He goes all the way beyond the call of duty to take compassion on us in our heaps of trouble and fragmented broken spirits. Why Us? Why Me? Simply because we’re valuable to Him and He cares. Allow Him to pick up the remains and fashion them back together in a beautiful, brilliant way ~ soothed and saturated with the oil of His healing, filling and cushioning all the jagged edges of all the shattered pieces! Oh that healing oil of grace is a beautiful thing to the one in need. Reach out for it today and accept it, if it’s what you need to make your beautiful soul more beautiful ~ more strong ~ more healed ~ more loved. He’s got you today, beyond the brokenness of the cross and back again. Take Him up on it!
