Ephesians 6: 10 – 18
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.”
Although as Christ ones we are not of this world, we are in this world and we need strength to wrestle off the principalities and powers of the dark world that surrounds us on every side. Our strength for such malicious battle is found only in the Lord verse 10. Paul exhorts the saints in Ephesus to “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.”
We must stand firm in Christ who clothes us with His protective defense, girds us with HisTruth and the knowledge of His righteousness. Without a sharp, keen understanding of Truth and righteousness our minds will be vulnerable to the trickery and deception of the enemy. To stand against the evil one, it is crucial to have a sure footing, standing in peace with God, being justified by our shield of faith in Christ, brandishing a sword, The Word Of God, a sword sharper than any two edged sword, and the protective helmet of hope and assurance of salvation. Bathed in an abundance of prayer we then are equipped to pull down strongholds, cast down arguments and bring every thought into captivity. How awesome it is then, in a battle with such victorious defense we will conquer every foe and there will be no weapon fashioned against us that will stand. Hallelujah!! Christ is our victory!
