“God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.”
2 Corinthians 5: 19, 20.
“That God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.”
In Verses 18 to 21 Paul tells his listeners, that God entrusts the message and ministry of reconciliation through Christ, to His servants. God has given believers the task of reconciling people to God. Paul was speaking of his own ministry here, but encouraging others to share the gospel in their circles of influence. Sharing this wonderful message is the responsibility of all who know Christ on a personal basis.
Just what is this message of reconciliation that we must be about sharing?
Christ is our mediator and our only way to the Father! “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has gone the new has come!” What transformation! Sin separates us from a perfect, holy God but Christ’s death on the cross made a bridge for us to be redeemed, forgiven and reunited with Him. What reconciliation! Through God’s sacrifice of love our sins have been atoned for and through the blood of Christ they are cleansed and no longer held against us! They are covered, cared for and looked after. When we truly repent in all humility and leave our sin in the compost at the foot of the cross we can be assured that God’s grace and unconditional love will dispose of it’s poison and no longer hold us accountable for what we’ve done! What an extravagant grace has been lavished upon us; we, who are so undeserving. In the simple act of repentance we become children of the most high God, heirs to the throne and ambassadors for Christ Himself. It’s an awesome beginning to a new life in Christ and one that must continue to grow as we strive toward spiritual maturity. Let’s get the good news of the gospel message out, by being responsible ambassadors, representing Christ our mediator in all excellence, as we share the message of reconciliation by demonstrating publicly our love for God through word and action!
