A No Fight Battle

Sometimes there’s a whole lot of nonsense messing up the day! A whole lot of words, a whole lot of talk, a whole lot of rumors, a whole lot of right and whole lot of wrong. Half truth, whole truth and nothing but the truth. It’s difficult isn’t it to decipher truth from fiction and order from chaos? Beautiful soul, are you there today? In the middle of the thicket, the fog and the fight? Take courage from the book of 2 Chronicles, penned to give purpose and hope to a people whose future appeared uncertain. Does your future teeter on the abyss of fear and turmoil? Hear the words of King Jehoshaphat as he relayed God’s words to the people of Judah and Jerusalem. They were threatened and faced a terrible battle, that on their own was a pretty bleak situation. A no win, if you please! Yeah, it was just plain, downright, bad news any which way you looked at it? It was pretty much cut and dried! There was not a hope in the trenches for any kind of victory. Ahh, but God was there and His words were given to the King to speak over the people. Hear them if you will!

“You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.” Do we get that today? Can we hide those powerful words in our hearts and tuck them away into our minds and stand firm in our positions? The KJV says, “Stand still”, and I like both. Don’t you? Stand Still, Stand firm! Take your positions and watch the Lord deliver! It doesn’t say to talk, or speak out of frantic negotiations, but just to simply stand still. How awesome is that promise when there’s a whole lot of fight and not a whole lot of sense going down about anything in your corner?

‘This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it.” Isaiah 30:15 Earlier in the book of Isaiah, The people of Judah were in desperate need of repentance and returning to the Lord, and in quietness and trust in their Lord, they would find strength. But they refused His offer. Do we? His offer still stands for us and is there today, this moment for us to accept. Repentance and Rest is the only thing that will win. Quietness and trust is our strength. We can take that promise from God to the bank and count on it. Either He is God or He isn’t? So how’s it going for you today?

Stand still, take your positions and in quiet confidence and trust in an awesome God, find all the strength you need for that weary soul and that tired mind!

Everything That Comes And Goes

“I know that, whatsoever God does, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God does it, that men should fear before him. That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requires that which is past.”

Ecclesiastes 3: 14, 15

The book of Ecclesiastes is a book of wisdom delving into the depths of life and it’s somewhat meaningless meanderings but yet of it’s utmost importance. It seems so fleeting but yet not without purpose. The key to finding purpose and enjoyment is in remembering our Creator and keeping His commandments. Living them out in obedience to Him. This is what really brings about our joy and fulfilled life.

So today, make the most of what comes and goes as life passes by so quickly and days seem blown to the wind. So many things we once loved, and had and owned and enjoyed are long lost now, not because we didn’t want them, but because things change! We change! Seasons change! They come and they go and some of our treasures are no longer available for any number of reasons. Maybe lost, maybe grown, maybe torn maybe broken, maybe off the market, maybe just worn out and long time gone. Loved ones pass on and dear hearts remain as only precious memories.

So, the thing is, it’s okay to grab those sweet and priceless moments in time and remember back when! It’s ok to tuck the memories into your heart for safe-keeping to take with on the rest of this life journey, but to live there..No we can’t! Not in the past! The past is the past and although some things are worth the memory, other things aren’t! The bad, the good, and everything in between is kept by God, in the vault of heaven for safe keeping and you and I and we and us, we must move on, for we still have life coursing through our veins to make a difference in what is yet to come. We have life to be free to make choices and more memories for others to hide in their sweet minds for their sweet journey. So yeah, today, do what you can with what you have, knowing that too soon, it will be gone. Treasure tiny fingers, tiny toes, all that comes all that goes. Treasure little hearts and minds and those valuable, little souls in your care. Treasure aging hearts and souls confined to beds of sickness. Some to recover, yet some to move on! Learn from the past but live the life you still have to make a difference for others and for the future that lies ahead.

Make the most of everything that comes and everything that goes. But dear and beautiful soul, make it good, make it well, and make it sweet and make it kind ~ just as good and well and sweet and kind as can be and as you can, for the Creator has a purpose in your life. A purpose to make life more meaningful for others in your path.

So beautiful friend ~ Celebrate life! Find that purpose and know that joy today.

The Upside Of Down

So, on the upside of down today, it’s all ok. You know it is! Really, deep down you know it is! Sure, maybe a lot of downer stuff, snuffed out your day really good but there’s always an upside. Always something good in the bad. Always something positive in the negative. And always, always a lesson or two to learn from the stuff that went down, to make us better not bitter. Bitter poison vibes will seeps into the very core of our spirit to plunge us to rapid ruin. So you and I and we and us, we don’t want to go there! Let’s not allow our downer disappointments to usher us into such desperate places! Tomorrow is a new day! So rest now! Rest in sweet places with your mind and let Jesus into the trouble and into the boat, much the same as He did in Matthew 8:23 – 27, when Matthew walked with Jesus and penned that old, familiar story of Jesus getting into the boat and starting across the lake with his disciples. Oh you know it well. “Suddenly a fierce storm struck the lake, with waves breaking into the boat. (What a downer!) But Jesus was sleeping. (What a downer!) The disciples woke Him up shouting, “Lord save us! We’re going to drown.(What a downer!) ” Jesus said, “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith.” Then He got up and rebuked the wind and the waves and suddenly there was a great calm.”

Wow, just like that, all the fearful, downer moments in that boat were brought to peace, when even the wind and the waves obeyed Him. When your downers make you desperate, cry to the Lord, as the disciples did in that little boat beaten against the waves and tossed about into the winds. You can know He’s not really sleeping, but standing by to give you a faith check and heap of help for your heap of trouble.

He’s got your stuff, He’s got your trouble! He’s got your back! He’s in the boat, now all He needs from you is your sweet, child like faith and your sincere trust in Him!

So now, beautiful you, that really bad, downer day is placed into His very capable hands and even though it seems like He’s asleep in the trouble, you can know, He isn’t! Set your faith loose in the boat and find better not bitter.

Sand Paper Moments

A discouraging day is it? Yeah, there are some of those, when everything that can go wrong does and when it’s all said and done, it’s all said and done and you can’t change it or make it different but you can shake it off, move on and make a difference. Begin with an attitude check and a heaping dose of God’s grace to soothe the discouragement, disappointment and add some mellow to the harsh. Those sand paper moments are difficult but they come and sometimes they trick us into thinking we’re not good enough or smart enough or strong enough to make it. They sneak up on us and catch us off guard and if we’re not alert they can win it over us and run us down.

Beautiful soul, you are not defined by your successes, your accomplishments or yeah, even your failures. No they don’t speak into who you are! You are not who you are because you’ve made it or haven’t made it. You are you and who you are is God’s creation made in His image, and made beautifully to fulfil His purpose in your life. He hasn’t left. He hasn’t walked away. He hasn’t left you alone in the journey. He doesn’t do that! That’s not what He’s about!

Trust Him to meet you right where you are ~ in that heap of insecurity and not good enough. In that heap of impossible and over the top expectation demanded of you. Let Him take your load, your worry and give you peace.
