Hang In There!

Romans 5: 3, 4, 5

“We can rejoice too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance and endurance develops strength of character. And character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment because we know how dearly God loves us, because He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love.”

Paul speaks to all in Rome called to be saints. He points out that all are under God’s judgment of guilt. But God’s gift of justification (just as if we had never sinned) is the very heart of the Gospel. This justification, or grace, covers us, giving us allowance to enter into the presence of the King of Kings at anytime. To have the ear of a King when we choose to is unheard of. Esther risked her life to come before King Ahasuerus for the safety of her people. She was granted grace! What a privilege and what cause we have to rejoice in the hope of the glory of God! Our Gospel isn’t mere words but a life changing gift with justification bringing us Peace with God and a glorious future with the promise of productive suffering. What a springboard for us to glory in our difficulties. God customizes them to our needs and works through them to mould us, mature us and shape our character. He is our strength coach developing in us a “hang in there” attitude with confidence in His faithfulness!

Psalm 46: 1 reminds us that, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” He is faithful and over and over and over again, His faithfulness to bring us through and builds our confidence in Him. It’s in that quiet confidence in my Lord that I “trust” Him in difficult times and gain my strength. When the going is tough, He’s there to guide, and direct our steps. One of my favorite verses of comfort in times of despair is Isaiah 30: 15 “For thus the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, has said, “In repentance and rest you will be saved, In quietness (peace) and confidence (trust) is your strength.”

A Magnitude Of Love

DSC_0026
1 John 4: 10

“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”

God is the author, parent and commander of love. His love is the very foundation of our salvation. He loved us when we didn’t reciprocate. He loved us in our guilt, misery, shame and hopelessness. When we were polluted, unclean, unlovely and unlovable, He sacrificed His only Son for our wretched sinful condition, so …that we could be healed, restored, reconciled and made lovely. What sacrifice! What service! What mercy! What grace He bestowed upon us so that we might live life abundantly and live eternally blessed in His presence! O what a magnitude of love is ours in the deep, deep love of Jesus.

Time Out To Listen

Psalm 46:10

“He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.””

God is sovereign and in control. He is head master over all things. He’s The Heavenly director who orchestrates all activity in heaven and on earth from His glorious throne of power and grace. There is not one thing, one issue, one trial, one problem, one sorrow or even one pain touches us, that isn’t Father filtered and brought to us for our good and for His great glory. God speaks into our hearts through beds of pain, days of difficulty, moments of failure, and times of disappointment, speaking spiritual ” life” into our souls, if only we listen and hear. Let’s not miss Him!! Let’s not fail to hear His words because we’re busy with life, success and health! Oh that we would learn how to quiet ourselves before our awesome Creator God who is exalted over all the earth. To take a few moments out of a busy day, a busy week and a hectic life, to be still and ponder the divine attributes of our God who will be exalted among the nations! Take time to reflect on the awesomeness of His magnificence, the vastness of His grace, the hope of His promise and His pure, grace filled compassionate heart of love for His floundering people.

He is there just for you, right where you are and for your moment of fear, discouragement or disappointment. Meet Him and let Him take your cares and give you peace.

Where Is Hope?

DSC_0094

Romans 15:13

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Our only hope in this wretched sin filled world is the God of our salvation who has made a way for us to escape it’s strongholds, it’s grip and the consequences of it’s death and ruin. By trusting in this One, who has made a way for us, through the death and resurrection of His pure, sinless Son, Christ our Savior, the lamb of God, the mediator between us and His Father, we can know the Hope of Life eternal and abundant life here on this earth.

In Col. 1:27, Paul reminds us that the message of hope and salvation is for everyone who will accept it when he says,

“To whom God was pleased to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory”

What confirmation that God is our only true source of Hope. Anything else in this life, that makes such a claim is a false teaching and a lie straight from the enemy. There is no hope for one who is dead in trespasses and sin but As Christ ones who trust in the Lord and in our Sovereign God, our creator and our sustainer may we be filled with a confident Hope. May we be supernaturally empowered by the Holy Spirit’s work within us to experience an abundant and overflowing joy and transcending peace that comes from our Heavenly Father.

For the difficult days, the struggles and the disappointments may we know and experience Your unfailing love for us God and move on victoriously in that divine Hope, peace and joy in spite of surrounding circumstances.
