So, Where’s the Merry?

So ’tis the season to be jolly? Is it really? Is it really a season of jolly and joyful or do we find ourselves in a scurry of just clear crazy? With so much going on in this COVID world and so much loaded on the ‘Good-Will’ ‘to-do’ platter, we might just find there’s too much conundrum on our own plate. How then do we quiet ourselves amidst this complete and complex craziness of so much of everything to both ponder and accomplish?

This year, it’s not just the hubbub of Christmas festivities but other things too, other issues that creep in from the far corners of your world! They sneak in like creepy shadows, without an invite, yet loudly proclaiming their presence as they parade dauntingly through the mind, intimidating every step of this way and that and every way in between. They rant on and on and on, about what they came to do. Things that go bump in the night and make sleep a thing of the past! Anxiety here, a tension there, a bit of strife and disagreement and our old enemy is boldly on deck, ready to snag us with a host of issues to distract from even seeing the ‘Merry’ in Christmas!

So ok, ’tis the season to be jolly but sometimes the “Merry” is so far removed from our life that we even fail to find the “Christ” of Christmas. Remember Him? He’s the Saviour of your day! Your life, your week, and your busy season of life. So, ok, beautiful one, as His child, whatever season you’re in, you can know He’s walking with you! Right along beside! So whatever you do right now, collect your messy thoughts and usher your busy, crazy world right into His sweet and powerful presence for some healing and some quiet. So now, there you are with your whole heart, smack dab in the presence of your amazing God, Maker, Creator, Savior, and Lord. What now? Well, just savour the Saviour and find His grace enough to dissipate those fears hidden in the shadows of that darkness!

Yeah, You’ll find enough peace there for the hectic, enough mercy there for miles you’ve trod, enough healing to rejuvenate the weary! You’ll find enough grace there too, for the moment, enough Light there for road and enough hope there to keep you on keeping on! Oh yeah, and that ‘goodwill “To Do” platter? Well, relax with it, it will be full and running over, just like your heart of joy and gratitude to the One who cares so deeply for your beautiful soul. So, beautiful you, while COVID runs crazy and the busy gets up to run wild in the days ahead, take a time out to get alone with the One who knows your upside and downside and confirm with the Psalmist as he pens in Psalm 97: 10 b,

“He protects the lives of His godly people and rescues them from the power of the wicked. The light shines on the godly, and joy on those whose hearts are right.”Come to me, all who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

All Gone Wrong Days

A bad week so far? Maybe it’s already been a drastic day of all gone wrong that can and you’re left wondering if you can still selvedge any of its precious moments in time enough to keep some kind of sanity in this all gone wrong world of yours?

Some days are just like that, aren’t they? Well, you gotta know that even in the midst of all the fuss and fight, conundrum and confusion and hard stuff that’s going on, God’s right there with you on it and holds it all so tightly in His hand!

Yeah, and He does know your frustration and your panic and the worry that nips in that apprehensive heart of yours! And those ties that wrap you in tight knots that won’t undo, around that mind of yours? Yeah, He knows those too. So, that next hard thing and difficult place ~ Just float through it right into His sweet, safekeeping! Under the shelter of His wing! Safe on the rock of His protection! Secure in His shield and confident in His salvation.

He is there for you even on the rainy days and the blue days, and the so gone-wrong days. He led David through a few of those with a jealous Saul in relentless pursuit. David knew death entangled him and torrents of destruction overwhelmed him but he called on his God for help and His God delivered him and gave him a song and he gave praise back to the God who delivered, with the words of the song in Psalm 18: 1, 2, 3

“I love you O Lord my strength. The Lord is my Rock, my Fortress and my Deliverer; my God is my Rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the Horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the Lord who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies.”

In Our Darkest Hour

It’s in our darkest hour that God comes! He enters into the problem, although we may not be aware of His exact timing and presence in those lonely despairing times.

Ponder Moses, when he asked God to reveal His glory. God answered that He would make all of His goodness pass before him but that He couldn’t reveal the glory and radiance of His face or Moses would surely die.

Get this! Moses couldn’t watch! He couldn’t see God when He did His work. Why? Well, take a look at that conversation. Ponder it deeply in your heart of hearts and in your deepest soul. Tuck it in there for safekeeping on a stormy day, when the winds howl and the wolves prowl.

Exodus 33:17-20 says,

The Lord replied to Moses,

“I will indeed do what you have asked, for I look favourably on you, and I know you by name.’

Moses responded,

“Then show me your glorious presence.”

The Lord replied,

“I will make all my goodness pass before you, and I will call out my name, Yahweh, before you. For I will show mercy to anyone I choose, and I will show compassion to anyone I choose. But you may not look directly at my face, for no one may see me and live. Look stand near me on this rock. As my glorious presence passes by, I will hide you in the crevice of the rock and cover you with me hand until I have passed by. Then I will remove my hand and let you see me from behind, but you will not see my face.” Exodus 33: 17 – 23

Friends, it’s dark there in the crevice of the rock with the Lord’s hand covering our eyes, don’t you think? But it’s safe there in the shelter of that rock as God does His thing to reveal His glory in our circumstances. He did it for Moses, and He does it for us if we give Him the reigns to shelter us from the trouble and hide us securely protected from His awesome work. So, we may feel in the dark these days and yeah, we might not be aware of His presence when He presents Himself in the struggle, because He covers us with His hand so we can’t see His face, but it’s here, He’s working with a powerful, sovereign hand to fix it all just the way He desires to fix it. It’s in the dark He works so sovereignly to reveal His glory and to shine directly and radiantly into our darkest of dark.

Oh yes, you and I and we and us, how often do we look back at the struggle that just past, and although we didn’t see Him, we know that we know He was there because it could have only been God that performed and orchestrated such amazing work in such perfected fashion?

So for you today, in the dark, down, needing desperately to see something from the Lord, hold on to hope and stay safely there in that dark spot, in that safe place, protected right there, until God is finished doing what He’s doing. When He takes away His hand, then look! Then smile! Then be thankful for the dark that just passed over!
Now it’s safe to see what He’s accomplished.

Beautiful one, how blessed we are to know His goodness and to see His glory revealed after the darkness has passed.

Valentines Of Love

So what if today, in this month of hearts and roses, we could see all the promises of God, as valentines of love, spilling out from His vast abundance into our empty hands and hearts?

What if we could just catch them like light, falling stars and see the reality of them in the palms of our hands and depths of our souls? What if we could just grasp the reality of the promise that He who promised is faithful, both now and forever? What if we could do that and just look up into the heavens to see the sweetness of His faithfulness just falling upon us, surrounding us and sustaining us?

The writer of Hebrews exhorts us to faithfulness when in 10: 23 he pens the words,

“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.”

So just maybe, as we step out today, in any way the shut down would allow, we could be challenged to hold on firmly to the hope of our hearts; that huge hope that transforms life because Christ’s death and resurrection effectively help us win a right relationship with God through salvation and forgiveness, so that every day of our lives, He is all we need to get through!

So many promises follow a saved soul, don’t they? Promises of unconditional love, protection, care, provision, vindication, strength, courage, help, preservation, healing, joy, peace, goodness, and blessing in abundance. Yeah, there are hard places where rough spots pursue, but we are winners in this race and as we look around we see those blessings keep spilling out and falling into our corners and we are blessed with so many of them!

We can know that He who promised is faithful all the time in every way. So, right now, look up and catch those hearts of love and promise, straight from the hands of the Father to you. Catch them! Grasp them! Hold them tight! Stand firmly on them and don’t waver then make every effort to share them, motivating and encouraging one another along! ❤❤❤
