Protection For The Game

So ok, sometimes life just throws it’s left hook right in your face and lands you into a tough game that you don’t know how to play. As a matter of fact you have no clue, no idea just what went down and why. There’s a whole lot of What for’s and what if’s, and how-comes and when there are no answers there is no peace!

So beautiful you, why must we have answers before we have peace? Well, truth is we don’t! You see, Answers may never come around and you, beautiful one, need to rest and receive God’s sweet grace for the difficulties. So, yeah, just rest that weary mind and come before the Creator of the universe, your Maker, your Sustainer, Your Provider, and Your Savior and let Him surround you with a divine quiet that you can feel in the depths of your soul. Ahh, yes, there are no fears in His presence, no shadows in His Light, No worries in His brilliant accomplishments, and no discouragement in His divine care!

Why then, don’t we come more often into His presence to seek His face and know His sweet peace? His sweet comfort? Maybe it’s because we’re so caught up in game that we don’t know how to play, that we forget about the One sovereign God, who does. The One who knows the end from the beginning and can play the game with His eyes closed and beat all odds. Why then do we fail to ask His guidance, His help and fail to trust His divine work?
David appealed to God’s justice and affirmed His Kingship in Psalm 7: and in verse 1, I love his prayer of affirmation to his God, “I come to You for protection, O LORD my God……rescue me.”

Let’s do it. Let’s do what David did and come before our Lord for safe keeping when the game is hard. Verse 10, 11, “God is my shield, saving those whose hearts are true and right…God is an honest judge. On into Psalm 8, “Oh LORD, our Lord, Your majestic name fills the earth! Your glory is higher than the heavens…. When I look into the night sky and see the work of Your fingers–the moon and the stars you set in place–what are mere mortals that You should think about them, human beings that You should care for them?…Oh LORD our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!

So, that chaotic game of confusion that you don’t know how to play; He does and he’s making the next brilliant move if you’ll only allow Him the opportunity. Find that quiet place in your heart today! Sit before Him and let Him protect you and let Him do His work in your heart and in your game.

Wings

I’ve had the privilege over the summer of watching over 300 Monarch caterpillars find their wings and take flight into the wide open spaces and the beautiful skies of blue. What a delight to see the caterpillar’s flat-out confinement to milkweed resulting in gorgeous, orange wings to finally and at last rise above the weeds soaring to new heights with new life!

Milkweed is the host plant for the Monarch butterfly and the only food for the caterpillar as it munches it’s way to wings!

Wake Up Call


Some days don’t we just need to be blinded with a bold enlightenment by the Lord? A wake up call something like Saul of Tarsus experienced on the road to Damascas while he was heading out to persecute and murder the Christians. He had witnessed the stoning of Stephen and had been in agreement, and Acts 8: 2 tells us he was going everywhere to destroy the church by dragging men and women off to prison. How often do our selfish ways and desires blind us to the truth of what’s really going down? Blind us to the truth of what and who we really are? Yeah, even as believers, we can get so caught up in the bitter band wagons of retaliation, or the ludicrous lies of the enemy, or the world’s opinions that we can’t see the forest for the trees and you know what, sometimes we just refuse to see and so we don’t. So we just keep on keeping on that same old road to Damascus but sadly it’s the road where the rubber meets the road, and just as the Lord gave a wake up call to call to Saul, He’ll give wake up calls to those caught in selfish plots to destroy and ruin His good things! Yeah, well, God knocked him down with a light so bright it blinded him for three days, long enough to get his attention and confront him with his evil schemes of threats and murders. The Lord faced him head on with who He was and what He wanted of Saul. Saul in obedience did what the Lord asked of him and found healing for his blindness. He was baptized, filled with Holy spirit and instead of murdering, he loved and preached to those in Damascas! Such an amazing transformation for a hard, cold heart of stone. That’s what Jesus does! I love how He does it!


Threats turned to concerns! Killings turned to kindness and hatred turned to love. What a glorious turn-about for Saul. Our roads to Damascus can be hardened with our own selfish blindness but God wants to meet up and change that hard, cold heart and impart a sweet and beautiful spirit of enlightenment into our souls….our beautiful souls. Let’s be challenged today to seek Him out and ask for his healing from hardened hearts and loss of sight. In verse 5, Saul asked, “Who are you Lord?” and the Lord said, “I am Jesus, who you are persecuting.” Saul then asked, “Lord, what do you want me to do?” and then he followed in obedience. Let’s ask the same two questions today, wherever we find ourselves and may our road to Damascus end in love rather than bitterness.

Acts 9: 1 – 6
“Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest 2 and asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. 3. As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. 4 Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”

5. And he said, “Who are You, Lord?”
Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.[a] It is hard for you to kick against the goads.”6. So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?” Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

Replenishing Wastelands

“Be glad, O people of Zion, rejoice in the LORD your God, for he has given you a teacher for righteousness. He sends you abundant showers, both autumn and spring rains as before. The threshing floors will be filled with grain; the vats will overflow with new wine and oil.”
Joel 2: 23 , 24

God breaks through a bleak, devastating picture of judgment on Judah and Jerusalem with a promise of restoration if the people would only repent. He promised the devastating drought would be reversed with a regular pattern of rainfall. He promised to restore His people and their material lives, replenishing their fields, orchards, vineyards and flocks. He would replenish the fruit of their land and eradicate invading armies from the north. He would once again, prove His faithfulness by regulating the pattern of rainfall with refreshing rain.

Doesn’t he promise the same for us? For the messes we find ourselves in, His faithfulness is there to meet us where we’re at. All He requires from us is a repentant heart and our Redeemer and Savior will move in to clean up and replenish the wastelands of our lives with His refreshing rains of grace and mercy. Are you searching today? Feeling life is quite messy with things you can’t change, habits you can’t break and people you can’t love?

God promises help for those moments of bleak devastation! He’ll eradicate your past and replenish the fruit of your life with the redemptive power and cleansing blood of Christ. Just give him a chance and tell Him to take over the control of your life… your problem… your heart!
