He’s In The Boat

So, on the upside of down today, it’s all ok. You know it is! Really, deep down you know it is! Sure, maybe a lot of downer stuff, snuffed out yesterday really good but there’s always an upside. Always something good in the bad. Always something positive in the negative. And always, always a lesson or two to learn from the stuff that went down, to make us better, not bitter.

Bitter poison vibes will seep into the very core of our spirit to plunge us into rapid ruin. So we don’t want to go there! Let’s not allow our downer disappointments to usher us into such desperate places! Today is a new day! So rest now! Rest in sweet places with your mind and let Jesus into the trouble and into the boat, much the same as He did in Matthew 8:23 – 27, when Matthew penned that old, familiar story of Jesus getting into the boat to start out across the lake with his disciples. Oh, you know it well.

“Suddenly a fierce storm struck the lake, with waves breaking into the boat. (What a downer!) But Jesus was sleeping. (What a downer!) The disciples woke Him up shouting, “Lord save us! We’re going to drown.”

Jesus said,

“Why are you afraid? You have so little faith.”

“Then He got up and rebuked the wind and the waves and suddenly there was a great calm.”

Wow, just like that, all the fearful, downer moments in that boat were brought to peace, when even the wind and the waves obeyed Him. When your downers make you desperate, cry to the Lord, as the disciples did in that little boat beaten against the waves and the odds and tossed into the winds. You can know He’s not really sleeping but standing by to give you a faith check and heap of help for your heap of trouble. He’s got your stuff, and He’s got your back! He’s in the boat, and all He needs from you is your sincere, child-like faith and trust in Him! So now, beautiful you, that really bad, downer day is placed into His very capable hands and even though it seems like He’s asleep in the trouble, you can know, He isn’t!

Set your faith loose in the storm and find better, not bitter.

So Safe

Sheltered in the arms of God; it’s a safe place to be. So when all rages wildly about you and your mind is doing whirling twirls in no kind of organized fashion, the place to be is quiet before the Lord and held tightly in His safekeeping ’til the quiet comes.

Humpty Dumpty

For all of your broken heart and weary, beautiful soul, there is healing in Jesus name.

So here you are, and you’ve has just done a Humpty – Dumpty off the wall and shattered into pieces, but yet, though shattered, there you stand, because life doesn’t go away just because does it? Oh, it’s you, but it’s not you, as you stare into the reality of that surreal nightmarish picture. How? Why? What? yeah all the questions track you down, but no answers beat you up, step on you and grind those already fragmented shards of life into the dirt.

All the king’s horses and all the king’s men can’t put you back together again. Can’t fix it! Can’t mend it! Can’t make it better! No, it can’t be repaired because it’s yours and no one could ever understand, not in a million years could anyone get it! Not now, not ever!

The Good news is, the King can! The One Sovereign King can do it! He’s got the broken pieces! He’s got the skills! He’s got the plan! He’s got the mercy! He’s got the grace! His life was broken too, so yours wouldn’t have to be. Because He was crushed for you, He’s got life for you! And while He holds you in those arms that carried His cross of death, He’s got you in those skilled hands that took the nails! Those same divine hands that healed the sick, and yeah that raised the dead to new life. He’s in the business of putting lives back together again. Reach out to Him! Get with His program and let Him teach you! Allow Him to work His custom plan from the ground up in your life! God’s words through His prophet, Isaiah, to a stubborn and rebellious people, are words for us today in Isaiah 48:17,

“This is what the LORD says, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is good for you and leads you along the paths you should follow.”

Although it’s a promise first spoken to Israel, It’s a relevant message for those of us travelling this journey of life in need of guidance and help along the way. For those of us who’ve done Humpty Dumpty’s off the wall. So, those broken pieces are fixable, our part is to simply and humbly bend down to pick them up and hand them over and let our Sovereign King do the transforming work in us!

Needy Today?

So, what do you need from God today? Peace maybe? Well dear one, You are blessed because He’s promised to give it! John 14:27 reminds us of His words,

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Hey, beautiful one, just now ~ step into it, in your troubled mind, and bask in its warm stability. It’s all over you, warming your innermost soul with radiance as you allow His peace to embrace the overwhelming fears you feel.

Maybe it’s strength you need today for the impossible? Well, you’re blessed because He, Himself, “is” strength and He’s our strength for those impossible moments too. All those things that press in without a speck of hope in our own strength, are covered under His. His very presence brings authority and power into our fragility and into our fight for life. God reminds us in Paul’s words to us in 2 Corinthians 12:9,

“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness”

So yeah, for that weakest part of you, He is strength and He is perfect strength. Know that He can use you in that weakness for His glory and He doesn’t need our perfection. Not even for a second. Yeah, we can fall and we can fail and He can still use it and us and He will, just as He did for Paul. Wait on Him and rest in Him! Isaiah 40:31 packs a powerful promise for God’s people. It’s our Wheaties for the day and our power-packed vitamin when we face the boot camps on our difficult journeys. Ahh, take it in and make it yours today …

” … they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint.”

Oh, what promises are our from the God of creation, from the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. We dare not brush them off or take them lightly, but today, let’s jump in head-first and take God up on His divine offers of peace and strength and whatever else you need for right now.
